Something v.v. weird about them - are they robots? And what's this brother/sister/love-in???

I hate it when they all start blubbing.

It's just pop music FFS!

It's supposed to be fun and a bit of light entertainment - not bloody saving the world or anything.

Get a grip people!

pinetreedog · 14/12/2007 16:50

oh I would never want 'ordinary' to win something.

(the tears didn't convince me but I can imagine her getting picked on)

Kathyate6mincepies · 14/12/2007 17:02

Quite right Eric.
When our grandfathers were their age they were fighting Hitler.

EricScrooge · 14/12/2007 17:04

And i used to get to lick the road for supper - IF I WAS LUCKY.

MellowChristmasEveryone · 14/12/2007 17:07

I agree with Wannabe, very weird when she started crying last week.

I think they are very strange sweet though.

peggotty · 14/12/2007 17:19

Remember who is behind them - picking the songs, orchestrating all the weird dance routines and choosing how their image appears to us - that's right, the Puppet Master that is Simon Cowell!! - I'd say HE was more scary and weird than they are any day!! They are just desperate, but he (allegedly) knows what he's doing!

hertsnessex · 14/12/2007 17:19

i hate them, cant believe they are still in the competition - something v v wierdddd.

Bocohohoho · 14/12/2007 17:33

You won't think they're ordinary when they win the final and take off their faces and hypnotise the nation with alien brain waves into the camera and we'll all be slaves and the mother ship will land and we'll be mining stuff for them while they eat all the trees. No you won't.

PrisonerCellBlockAitch · 14/12/2007 17:34

i think he knows that potentially they'll have the best career, regardless of whether they win. kids entertainers, merchandising, cds dvds tours etc. they'll do well, i fear.

MellowChristmasEveryone · 14/12/2007 17:39

Boco

peggotty · 14/12/2007 17:47

The way Simon Cowell is marketing them is pretty nauseating really - and you can tell even he thinks they're shite. All the poor saps on that program think they've made it when they get a compliment from Simon The Pantomime Dame Villain!

bohemianbint · 14/12/2007 17:50

Creepy creepy. Why are they in it and Niki got binned? I don't even watch the programme and I know that's wrong.

TinselHockey · 14/12/2007 17:55

I LOVE them.

yogimum · 14/12/2007 17:58

I wonder what Simon would be saying about them if Louis was their mentor

ChubbyStuckForAFestiveNameBurd · 14/12/2007 18:25

Boco

ShakeysGirl · 14/12/2007 18:33

I really like them. I want to keep them as pets

YuleLoveHekateAtSolstice · 14/12/2007 18:34

nat & georgia

I had to google that for the names, but it was worth it.

Honestly, SD give me the willies though.

tortoiseSHELL · 14/12/2007 18:41

I like them, because out of the last 4 - Niki - dire, Leon - boring, Rhydian - should be in the West End, not a recording artist imo, too operatic.

But a kiddies group is a nice idea! They could re-release kiddies songs like they had when I was a kid - I have a record from when I was a child - Radio 1 childrens records, called 'Junior Choice' with Ed Stewart - things like The Wombles, The Ugly Duckling, My old man's a dustman. There is nothing like that for children now, nothing for them to listen to beyond the Tweenies. And I hate the X Factor, and don't buy into this 'we're looking for a megastar' so a group for kids might be the best possible outcome!

And Niki really was terrible, out of tune, sub-Jane McDonald imo.

DiBackFromDead · 14/12/2007 18:48

Oh no please don't let them record Morning Town Ride, likely to reduce me to tears for lost childhood listening to Stewpot

YuleLove - I remember that Brookside story! Believe it or not DH was loathe to name first born Georgia because of brookie connotations - I told him not to be so ridiculous, as if anyone would care

tortoiseSHELL · 14/12/2007 19:07

But there is a gap in the market isn't there - at the moment filled with all those saccharin disney songs!

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 14/12/2007 19:09

I love them and I make DD happy by voting for them every week.
They aren't the greatest singer in the world, and yes niki did have a better voice, but they don't have anyone with Leona's talent this year.
I find Ryhdian much scarier!!
Leon is just a bad version of last years Ray Quinn, Niki can sing but is booooooooooooooooooooring.
Same Difference have the High School Musical target all wrapped up. Simon isn't stupid y'know.
I'd much prefer my dd/ds growing up looking at people like them on tv than slappers like Hope/Girls Aloud Type bands, Druggies like Amy Winehouse and all the other crap that's all over the radio.
I don't see the big problem with them being so happy and close really. It's like everyone thinks it's impossible for siblings to be that close without some form of sick incestual relationship. It's not SD's head that is in though is it???

themoon66 · 14/12/2007 19:10

Whenever I see them I just think ... 'Flowers in the Attic'

tortoiseSHELL · 14/12/2007 19:15

Agree with Tiny Tim! Much better than Amy Winehouse/Pete Doherty et al

I didn't like Niki's voice tbh - too predictable. Every year there is a lady like her who can belt out a power ballad, but isn't unique.

And actually I LIKE that they are brother and sister. It is actually nice that a family can stick together. Loads of precedents. Carpenters, Jacksons etc.

tortoiseSHELL · 14/12/2007 19:15

And of course the Corrs.
