To think Frugi has become the biggest con in the organic clothing market?

Ever since the original owners sold out!

Once upon a time I would happily splash £20+ on a dress or one of their fleeces. The quality was amazing, the colours were beautiful and bright and never faded, and I knew the clothes were worth the hefty investment as you'd get multiple kids out of one outfit - winning!

Now I'm lucky to get one wash out of an item before it looks like it's been dragged through a hedge backwards. Covered in bobble, colour faded beyond recognition and don't even get me started on how thin and cheap the snuggle suits are. Any they're only getting more expensive.

I bought a pair of trousers last year and they lasted one wash before being totally faded out and covered in bobble. When I emailed customer services they tried to tell me this was 'normal for organic clothing' and is' because they don't use harsh chemicals to colourfast.' Do they think everyone who messages CS has only just started buying Frugi? Like we know exactly what the quality SHOULD be like?

I don't know. I just feel like they are conning people into believing they are buying quality organic items - when in reality you cant rely on any of their clothing to last past a single wash any more. I recognize this is totally a first world problem - but for those if us who like buying ethically and will spend good money in order to do so, I can't help but feel we're being sold short on the quality.

Thank god for the second hand groups.

@NotThatHomer

Have to admit I find M&S kids clothes as good as anything these days.
I was hoping I'd find this but I've just had to return an M&S kids set of long sleeved t shirts as they shrank so badly in the wash (despite me following the instructions to the letter).

That's a shame, we've only had issues with one thing - a dress that the colour bled under the arms Confused. DD still regularly raids the kids section and she's 16. I've bought a few bits and pieces for myself too and I'm no where near child sized, but surprised to find some things fit!

I do look at there stuff but the price is on a par with Boden now and Boden have much more interesting designs. Only get things in the sale. I'd love to buy some reasonable priced plain ethical legging for my child but I can't fine any and I'm not prepared to pay £50 for Boden's set.

30% off boden until Thursday, which brings it down to almost (but not quite!) reasonable prices

I liked their older lines but the quality has been slowly going downhill on some items.

As someone who tries to shop ethically and be environmentally conscious, I'm getting increasingly concerned by how many ethical childrenswear companies seem to be launching regular big drops throughout the year. The BST groups are full of people selling children's clothes with tags in before the new drop comes in.

The sales happen so regularly as well that I'm starting to think that they have made garments that they can make a tidy profit on selling at 30-50% off, which is why the quality has declined.

You haven't come across extremely poor quality u till you've paid £36 for the thinnest, crappiest polyester from Popsy Clothing!! Honestly it's horrendous! It's like some cheap top from a market stall

I can’t afford Frugi but I’ve tried often tried JoJo Maman Bebe and I don’t see why people buy new. I think the quality is much better, say compared to Tesco, and they definitely wash better, however after one wash they are the same as anything second hand!

Next and M&S are great quality, no issues when washing or tumble drying (tops and legging, line dry jumpers/dresses etc). I do everything from M&S on a wool wash as the label states though. TU (Sainsbury's) is by far the best of the supermarket brands apart from their toddler leggings seem quite small.
