She is not big on Christmas, ok her choice, she is a widow (but lives with my sister) and lives her life through my sister and I (god help you if you want to do something that does not include her or do it her way)

Anyway today (yet again) she is moaning about Christmas holidays, "I hate it when its the weekend then Christmas then new year" "why does everyone have to have so much time off" blah blah blah (she will be with us all over the holidays so not sat all alone)

So in the end I said look mum its ok for the people who sit on their arse the whole year but for us that work a few days off to spend with the family is lovely or to have DP home for a few days ect...

OK she does not have to be full of festive cheer but why does she have to try and spoil it for everyone.

Oh, I've got one of those! My mum has been a widow for nearly 30 years and it really is a struggle with her. She's so bitter and twisted about the whole thing. Sadly Dad died on Christmas Eve, which doesn't help and I have a moment to myself and feel , but not at the expense of everyone else. If she's anything like my mum, you'll never change her, you just have to except her miserable ways and get on wth enjoying yourself.
