He is off school again, with earache AGAIN! He had his first dose of antiboitics last week for an ear infection - but they made him so ill he had to come off them (gps advice).

I don't think he's done a full week at school since half term, what with one thing and the next.

Poor little Colditz
DS2 used to be like this.
We used to give him echinacea.
And stopped him from swimming completely, as he always seemed to get poorly after this.
These things helped a bit, but he still had very poorly ears.
And antibiotics every bloomin' week, it felt like.
I hope he's feeling better soon.

I would strongly reccomend that you take him off cows milk if he is on it. My DS suffered the same. We gave up on the anti's and just mangaed it with calpol and junior nurofen. Also with warm hot water bottle near the ear and plenty of garlic in the diet.

The major change is that we went onto goat milk and that had virtually no mucus in it. And is much easier to digest. I also had 10 years of sinusitus and within a week or so of switching it had virutally gone.

If he goes swimming in public baths, make him wear ear plugs as the water is not that clean. Also alway make him wear a hat in cold weather.

Hope things improve.

Oh yes, Beeper.
DS2 had undiagnosed wheat and dairy allergies - only found out when he was 5.5 yrs.
Forgot to mention those.
His asthma and ear/chest/throat/nose problems cleared up when we removed dairy from his diet.

i'd second the goats milk, after we took ds off cows milk and gave goats milk he has never had earache again (fingers crossed)

Ear probs can be a real nuisence. ds suffers a lot so I sympathise. With him it's more or less self inflicted due to swimming too much - & refusing to wear ear-plugs. Hope you find a solution or he grows out of it soon.
