Help settle a argument for me

My two and half year old finds it very funny she farts she smiles and giggles and tells everyone she farted,
Hubby not so impressed I taught her to saying farting and thinks the respectful term to teach her is " blow off " or other phrases so I'm asking you all what do you call farting in your household ? And what do they say in school etc

Thanks

My late cousins DGM taught her to say ' who let polly out of gaol ' Grin

CallMeK

Why do you have to call it anything?? Why talk about it/draw attention to it? Filthy.

Is this you?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/11/2021 22:44

If fart isn't permitted, where does that leave shart? You can't have shart without fart.

Better ask Pat Sharp about that one.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 15/11/2021 22:51

@Snugglybuggly

What is wrong with farting?? It is the proper word
Thing is, as well as verteÞ, the proper words for excrement and a woman's genitalia were shit and cunte. And nobody wants children using those because they're the proper ones from the same period.

FFS, xh's family used to talk about 'doing a proomps'. It got right on my nerves. It's a fart. Own it.

I’ll note “the carpet frogs are being loud tonight” if my digestive system is being antisocial and I’m at home. Kind of apology not apology. DH is a bit prudish, but I grew up in a family who farted and did “pop offs” with abandon at home.

At work/in polite company I will usually manage to endure the pain and cramping of holding it in long enough to get to somewhere private, I’m not totally uncouth!

CatonMat · 16/11/2021 00:03

Carpet frogs. Grin

CheeseMmmm · 16/11/2021 00:29

Fart. Of course.

The other things I've heard are v strange to me, a fart was a fart when I was growing up!

The other things I've heard are kind of worse to my ear, most of them.

Catflapkitkat · 16/11/2021 03:43

Toot for under 7's
Farts for over 7's especially my son and his friends. Ewww gross screamed by daughter and her friends
Blow offs very Hercule Von Wolfwinkle. On his rubbish pet portraits page, his more windy sitters describe blow offs

Scrumbleton · 16/11/2021 05:42

Poof in our house

OldSpeclkledHen · 16/11/2021 05:43

Blow off is so 1980! I haven't heard this since I was a kid!
Farting all the way 😂

CatonMat · 16/11/2021 05:45

Show off, show off!
Pick your nose and blow off!

Hodl · 16/11/2021 05:59

Trumping
Letting rip
Farting
Doing a SBD

alexis4theppl · 16/11/2021 06:16

Haaa my Nan used to call it 'blow off'' back in the 80's. Definitely not heard it since.
I try not to say fart with my 3yr old coz it sounds a bit weird saying it. We instead call it a pardon, it caMe about when teaching him to say pardon after passing wind (burping or farting). If the OH does one I ask if he farted 😒

TabithaTumbler · 16/11/2021 12:44

@ALongHardWinter

An expression I've heard a few times over the last couple of years is 'I"ve just let Jim out of prison".

😂🤣 This thread is getting worse 😆

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 16/11/2021 12:47

I always say fart

My mum calls them poofs or poof bottom which I think is just wrong and could lead to a lot of confusion! Confused

LeedleLee · 16/11/2021 12:54

I don't get all the twee, ridiculous names for it. Fart is not a swear word.

It's fart in our house although there's sometimes times it's called windypops or drop one but those are tongue in cheek. However I'm definitely thinking Gary could be introduced here!

RaraRachael · 16/11/2021 15:28

When I was young farts were called peeps. We called boobs peeps as well. No idea why Grin

turnaroundtime · 16/11/2021 15:29

@user03852

I don't like the word fart/farting for a two year old but find the term blow off strange. My DC are a similar age and use the word pump/pumping.
In many countries pump/pumping refer to sex so that's not great either
JoeyJoeyson · 16/11/2021 15:42

Stood on a duck
Cracked a rat
Is someone at the door?

Otherwise it’s just a fart.
