Eurgh Wine O'clock

I'm in some semi professional fb groups to do with my career. Lots of mums in there who constantly relate everything to having a drink.

Endless posts about "is it too soon for gin"? Or pictures with those enormous glasses of wine that say just one glass. The whole Christmas party is about wine.

Does anyone else find this annoying?

Some serious over reaching and reframing going on here. It’s risible.

If they’re all that bad report them to social services instead of being some sort of online alcohol monitor.

If you’re going down this route there is so much to get annoyed about on social media because at the end of the day people are annoying or have annoying traits and social media simply magnifies it. Although, I’m lucky enough to follow people where it magnifies their good side as life is too short to be constantly irritated.

The type of comments I mean are like “OMG THANK GOD IT IS TIME FOR WINE!!” And things which imply it’s been a struggle. Even if said in a hyperbolic way for effect it’s stupid/unfunny.

Really grates on me too. I don't know when drinking gin became a personality.

I find this and other variation on the theme really annoying too. I'm French and I still find the British obsession with drinking weird despite having lived here for years and years!

I love a glass of wine but the whole wine o clock thing is highly irritating. Said by the same kind of person that uses 'making memories' as a hashtag.

But if they make the memories with the famalam? Totes ok?

I'm not engraged when I see it. I love the group for other reasons but every Friday particularly there's just constant mentions of is it time for wine yet. The weekly newsletter mentions it 4x.

Would just be nice for some consideration of the fact that's not how everyone spends a Friday night. You can indulge with lots of other stuff aswell.

I thought I was the only one, I find it extremely annoying too. My dad was an alcoholic so I'm not very keen on the drinking culture in this country. I've really noticed it since becoming a mum, my NCT group constantly goes on about wine being the only thing that gets them through the day!

I do drink wine (and proper strong tea), I don't post alcohol memes, but there will always be stuff on FB that doesn't meet your personal tastes. I can't stand a friend's keto diet posts, all that steak and cream (not envy). But she's a friend, she loves her food, I just scroll on by.
