So I've been lucky to have the last 2 off.
We are short staffed so I was expecting it and don't mind too much.
Anyone else know their rota yet and is it fair.?

I work in a school (not a teacher) so take the full two weeks. In my old job we worked skeleton staff between Christmas and new year so had to work one day out of the three and Christmas eve was on a rota. I love not having to do that anymore.

This is my year to have Christmas off. I'm working Christmas Eve but after that I'm not back until 2nd January. We always get Christmas and Boxing Day off anyway, but I'm having the whole period this time.

ChicCroissant · 11/11/2021 23:42

I think I'll be working until 10.00pm on Christmas Eve, but off Christmas Day (closed or ask for volunteers) and Boxing Day (usual rest day). Working an early shift on NYE and off NYD. We'll see if that changes! I've just started at the job so no chance of booking time off as everyone else did that ages ago!

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 11/11/2021 23:47

Not actually seen my rota yet but apparently I'm an early Christmas morning (7-13:20).
Happy with that, DH can cook the dinner and get the Prosecco chilled.

Saladd0dger · 11/11/2021 23:47

I work in retail, the store is closed Christmas Day. I normally work till late Xmas Eve and 5am Boxing Day even if it’s not my shift. Not this year though. The way it falls Iv booked Boxing Day off. It gives me a nice week off. Been stocking up on baking supplies ready. I’m not bothered about working new year I’ll probably do someone else’s shift so they can go out.

FrankiesKnuckle · 11/11/2021 23:49

Thankfully not this year, but I've had many that I've been rostered for (paramedic)
It can be a strange day to work for us - lots of unwanted elderly folk, a range of suicidal people and a sharp rise in chokings.
It's never quiet (when is?!)

If you have to call an ambulance on Christmas Day chocolates/food obviously go a long way 😬

notacooldad · 12/11/2021 10:46

I love working the middle shift on Christmas day. I have an easy morning. By the time I get there lunch is cooked so it's a nice atmosphere. We go out for a walk and I finish and come home to my dinner made by Dh knowing I've got a clear run off until 3rd January. I'm getting double pay and my hours worked back.

@itsutterlyshit

I'm down to be working for the 10th year in a row, maybe even longer. I mind a lot, as the assumption is I'll work to let parents have the day off. Im waiting to hear if I'm getting it off after I complained. It's not looking promising.
This happened to me. It was seen as I didn't have children, and Christmas is a time for family, I would Always be rotated to work. I pointed out I had family, nieces, nephews, husband etc and should be treated equally. Not sure who's got Christmas this year as I'm on maternity leave.
Slippy78 · 12/11/2021 18:56

Not sure yet but I hope so.
What's not to like about triple pay and not having to spend it with your family?

SockQueen · 12/11/2021 18:56

I'm not - I've got the week before Christmas off, and asked to do NY rather than Christmas (we are supposed to offer to do one). So I'm doing nights over New Year but that's ok as we weren't planning on doing much for it anyway

whatisforteamum · 12/11/2021 19:10

Sorry itsallshit that is not right at all.

I'm working Christmas Eve , Christmas Day and Boxing Day and I dont mind really as my children are mid teens to early 20s . I was lucky that I didn't work it when they were small so I dont mind doing it for those on the ward with young children/and or extra caring responsibilities. I am on early on 25th so DH and eldest DS are in charge of making dinner for when I come in and we can swap pressies then . And I have Hogmanay off as driving up to my home city Glesga ! 🥂 ( Scot who lives doon South ).

itsutterlyshit · 08/12/2021 23:52

I'm still waiting to hear, everyone else has been told if they're allowed off so I assume it's yet another year working. Also working Hogmanay and New Year's Day too which I'm not as bothered about.
I think they're too scared to tell me I'm working incase I throw a tantrum and walk out 🤣

gabsdot45 · 09/12/2021 01:27

Our place is closed on 25th but open again on 26th for production staff.
I'm working 24th and 27th but I don't mind because after that I'm off till Jan 10th.
