It isn’t fixable IMO. Have you seen the amount of plastic tat in just a single branch of B&M? Even posters on here talking about buying volumes of tat for Christmas that will end up in landfill. People can’t stop and won’t stop consuming.

Given the list of his alleged foibles, is it not inspirational that such a character can rise to the top and be giving the key address to world leaders?

Yep. We aren't one minute to midnight, we are 30 mins past. Enjoy life while you can, it's irreversible. Not unless we all stop procreating as much, using cars ever, shopping for new things, creating new products and go back to a very basic lifestyle.

@FreedomFaith yes I agree, but it's also up to nations' governments to do some of the heavy lifting e. g. transitioning to non-fossil fuel and helping poorer nations do the same.

Oh yes, they have to do the majority of it really, stop the companies producing so much crap, make the laws that no one will like etc. Its why it will never happen.

And God no, he's never going to do what it takes. But none of them are unfortunately. We need drastic measures no one will like. Just make a thread on here saying you can only have one child now and see the uproar you get. Or you can't use your car anymore. It will never ever happen.

His job isn’t to inspire people to make changes (which would be fairly pointless) it’s to legislate so businesses have to make changes.

But we are obviously going to have to change. This will happen one way or another. One way= we do it fairly, slowly, inclusively, including developing countries.
The other = we wait for climate catastrophies and eventually get flooded our of our homes etc.

What would have been really inspirational is for them to have chartered a train from Rome to Glasgow!
