Who's "fault" is this?

Person A puts things in the sink, as dishwasher is on, at some point water from various sources (cooking, tumble drier, rinsing a bowl out) was put into sink and a mug was filled at some point with water from some source.

Person B needs to take paracetamol, and decides to drink the water in the mug in the sink.

Person B starts gagging and making wretching noises and asks Person A what is in the mug, and implies that Person A shouldn't have left that water in the mug.

Person A thinks that Person B shouldn't have drunk random sink water, and should have used the glasses and fresh tap water right next to the sink.

So, was Person A wrong to leave the random water in the mug. Or was Person B wrong to drink the random water and then blame person A for being "poisoned".

Person B is an idiot and passive aggresive. Person A was set up. No way person A could predict that Person B would need a drink and place a 'poisoned' cup in the sink for Person A to find.
Thus rests the case for the defence M'Lud.

ImUninsultable · 30/10/2021 12:40

I really cant get over the stupidity. What the hell were they thinking?

Stuff sitting in the sink is dirty. If it's got water in it it's very obviously water from stuff getting poured in, rinsed, people quickly washing hands etc.

Its dirty dishes in a sink. Any water in it is dirty. What sort of moron goes, "ah, lovely, I'll drink that lovely sink water out of the dirty cup".

If this is your husband then I'm really really sorry for you

2catsandhappy · 30/10/2021 12:41

Ah crossed post!

ImUninsultable · 30/10/2021 12:43

Oh, cross posted. It's your son.

I think I'd be very embarrassed if my son acted like that. What an idiot.

Please show him the thread if he gives you any looks as if he still blames you!

FetchezLaVache · 30/10/2021 12:45

Offering to take him to have his stomach pumped was a stroke of absolute genius!

mountbattenbergcake · 30/10/2021 12:46

He sounds like an idiot. Is he lazy too or does he pull his weight?

regthetabbycat · 30/10/2021 12:46

@NewPapaGuinea

Person A was wrong for putting things in the sink. One my pet hates.
And if you don't have a dishwasher? Grin
TheGoogleMum · 30/10/2021 12:47

Ew why would anyone drink random sink water?

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 30/10/2021 12:48

B is the daft one

MolkosTeenageAngst · 30/10/2021 12:48

I can see why he’s gagging and worried, I would be too, but it is completely his fault for drinking water out of a mug that was in the sink. I would always assume a mug in the sink was dirty and that anything in it would be too.

EngelbertPumpkindink · 30/10/2021 12:51

Person B is an idiot.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 30/10/2021 13:04

Person B might be my ex, can imagine him being that lazy

whynotwhatknot · 30/10/2021 13:10

never heard of someone walking over to a sink and drinking random water in a cup

as the dishwasher was on where do people expect op to put her mugs, etc whilst its washing

VitalsStable · 30/10/2021 13:18

Jesus, just knew this would be a man drinking god knows what without checking.

1forAll74 · 30/10/2021 13:23

Everyone is lazy.Person A , for not being able to wash a few pots, just because a dishwasher is on, and person B, for not being able to wash a few things up either, and drinks from a used cup or glass. I have actually known a few cases, when people have left a couple of teaspoons on the side, when a dishwasher is on, to put in the dishwasher , the next time it is used.. madness madness.

i don't have a dishwasher !

Sparklfairy · 30/10/2021 13:23

@Oldraver

Does B stand for brainless buffoon ?
I think it stands for Bellend Grin

Though I can't work out if A stands for Astonished or Amused.

i don't have a dishwasher !

Do you really not have better things to do than wash every dish instantly? What on Earth is wrong with leaving things for the next run of the dishwasher?!

Using the dishwasher is much more environmentally friendly than washing things by hand anyway!

Saving the spoons for the next dishwasher load is more economically friendly than washing them separately by hand.
londonmummy1966 · 30/10/2021 13:31

I was going to say Person B was at fault until I read the update that they were your teenage son. As the mother of a teenager surely you know that everything that ever happened since we crawled out of the primeval swamp is your fault? So YABU for asking....

Starseeking · 30/10/2021 13:31

I don't understand this. Why on earth would someone drink from a mug in the sink WITH WATER ALREADY IN IT??? Surely that explicitly tells you it's used/dirty/not fit for consumption.

Person B sounds incredibly lazy that they couldn't open a cupboard and fill a glass.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 30/10/2021 13:32

I was going to ask if person B was a child! I can see they are so mitigates slightly, but yes I wouldn’t expect my younger dc to be that daft.

His reaction is over the top too!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 30/10/2021 13:34

I don’t like cups etc to stand in the sink as it puts it out of use. They can either (if the dishwasher is bust or they can’t go in)

A. Get washed up straight away
B. Wait on the side board

mafted · 30/10/2021 13:41

I'm sorry but there's no hope for either of youGrin

Leaving dirty dishes in the sink is an abomination.
Nobody in their right mind would drink mystery water.
