…….. other than he wants to. No symptoms, no requirement to do it.

YANBU - It’s a waste of resources and it’s adding to landfill unnecessarily.

YABU - none of your business, he can do what he wants.

One friend as been off work five weeks now following getting Covid and someone at work has now been off two weeks. Two teacher friends missed the whole of October off work.

SlugRose · 30/10/2021 19:43

I haven’t known anyone who has still been too I’ll to come out of isolation after the 10 days. good for you. I know of 2 people. One of which had to go to hospital for 2 days and is only in their early 30s.

NumberZ · 30/10/2021 19:51

So both still very low numbers then assuming you know hundreds of people, my point was to those who were saying they isolated for flu.

Landof · 30/10/2021 19:55

The gov website links to the NHS website. We are being asked to LFT twice a week. He is being sensible.

Yes I can read, thanks. But nothing about double vaccinated having to twice weekly test.

Well none of those apply to me Smile

@MaxNormal
“Quite frankly I think the only way the pandemic will end is if people stop testing themselves constantly to see which flavour of cold they have.”
Do you actually believe any the drivel you’ve written above makes sense??

MaxNormal · 31/10/2021 07:09

No, I go around stating things I categorically believe to be untrue for shits and giggles Hmm

MorvaanReed · 31/10/2021 11:59

I've just looked and the general advice seems to be anyone can test twice a week but the specific Welsh site says as quoted above. I haven't looked at Scotland or Northern Ireland.

I work in a school and we are strongly advised to test twice a week and report to the school and via the government website but they can't make us (though I have a suspicion the HT would give me dirty looks). I'm happy to comply at the moment as pre half term every class was down at least 5 children with a either covid, the cold from hell or a sickness bug and I have CV and CEV friends and family. I didn't do them over the school summer holidays as we prefer outdoor activities and the couple of times we did indoor things everyone was being diligent about ventilation and social distancing.

I can't find the link but I'm sure the data I read gave the highest number of LFTs done in a week as less than 10million so lots of people aren't doing them.

The government has left up to us. I think everyone should do their own, informed, risk assessment, balanced against the environmental impact, and act according.

TheGoogleMum · 31/10/2021 12:08

It's sensible to get tested regularly as you could have covid without symptoms

RonaLisa · 31/10/2021 13:04

@MaxNormal I agree with all of your posts. Admire you for being a voice of sanity!

Parker231 · 31/10/2021 13:16

Why on earth wouldn’t you regularly test so that you can protect others? Covid has really highlighted the selfishness of some people

userxx · 31/10/2021 13:31

And the sanctimony of others.

RobinPenguins · 31/10/2021 13:32

@NailsNeedDoing

The point of them is to do them with no symptoms. Your DH is doing nothing wrong.

I agree we should be concerned about the extra waste that this pandemic has generated though.

gogohm · 31/10/2021 13:36

Depends what his lifestyle is. I have no requirement to do them but because I go to the pub, go to restaurants, go to the cinema etc I take them periodically to ensure I'm not inadvertently passing on covid - as I've had it prior to vaccination and barely got symptoms I have suspicions that I would be asymptomatic

Parker231 · 31/10/2021 13:38

@userxx - I’d 100% rather spend a few minutes doing tests regularly rather than risk someone else who may be vulnerable.

PurpleDaisies · 31/10/2021 13:40

Dh and I both tested positive on lfts when we only had cold symptoms not the classic Covid ones you’re supposed to isolate with.

PurpleDaisies · 31/10/2021 13:44

Yes I can read, thanks. But nothing about double vaccinated having to twice weekly test.

Every single person I know who has Covid at the moment is double vaccinated.

nordica · 31/10/2021 14:13

People complaining about the plastic waste from LFTs should look into how much plastic waste is generated every time a covid patient needs hospital treatment. Everyone concerned about the plastic should be doing everything they can to keep infection rates down to prevent hospitalisations.

Excellent point
MaxNormal · 31/10/2021 22:07

@RonaLisa bless you. Normally when I'm tagged it's someone giving me shit so that was nice Grin

HappyDays40 · 31/10/2021 22:30

Why is this even an issue?

MrsSkylerWhite · 01/11/2021 22:53

NumberZ

I’d love to know how long people who have previously isolated because of flu have isolated for ie how many days? And how did they know this was long enough?

Yes, only had ‘flu once, I think. it was horrendous, couldn’t have gone about my business even if I’d wanted to. Took a good 3 weeks to be feeling even 50%.
I think a lot of people mistake heavy colds for “‘flu” tbh.

beautifulview · 02/11/2021 06:00

My semi retired DH gets on my nerves but this wouldn’t bother me. If this was his only annoying habit then I’d count myself lucky
