This isn't a guy who has allergies or anything, it just came on all of a sudden.
I legged it after an hour or two of his random coughs and sniffles. AIBU here or should he have buggered off to WFH after the 3rd or 4th cough? Fun, the wait begins!
@Offmyfence the AIBU script being rolled out is pretty tedious and boring too, tbf.
Not as ridiculous as asking a question and getting the arse when you've got answers though, don't you agree?

Does my bum look big in this, yes it does..... OMG how dare you!

I mean OP asked a question and got answers, not ones she wanted, so the mantra of herd mentality was rolled out!

It's also pretty boring that people like you object to the AIBU mantra being rolled out.

'now'? I imagine it was covid since Thursday.
Doubt it! I really think you've just said it too prove an alleged point!

Pumperthepumper · 30/10/2021 22:54

It’s boring that you object to people calling you boring when you’re being boring.

And yes, I said upthread the OP has been a dick. The basis of what she says is correct though - going into work with covid symptoms is shitty behaviour.

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 30/10/2021 22:55

@Offmyfence

And I can definitely live with you thinking that😊

Is that aimed at me?

💤 💤

OP had played out a complete

I'm pregnant

I'm vulnerable

I'm sensible

Oh and I'm right!

Of course, because you're more pregnant than me!! GrinGrin

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 30/10/2021 22:58

And less off my tits, it would seem.

OP posts:
Pumperthepumper · 30/10/2021 23:00

@Offmyfence yes, it’s aimed at you.

Dnaltocs · 30/10/2021 23:02

The pandemic is rife and the reason it’s spreading is some are taking chances. Of course he should go home. If he’s unsure then guidance should be given to him Go Home as a preventative measure. We test ourselves 3 times a week - we have a raging pandemic and some think he should still be at work. Are you serious.

Offmyfence · 30/10/2021 23:02

Oh another MN classic, you're calling me out on my shite behaviour, so you must be drunk!!

You've been aggressive and bombastic this whole thread, drip fed, but hey you're more pregnant (whatever that actually means) than others.

But of course, others that challenge you ar
Wrong
Less pregnant
Don't care
Careless

And now

Drunk!

GrinGrinGrin

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 30/10/2021 23:07

@Offmyfence

No, the way you're writing tells me you're drunk, not the things you are saying.

My 'drip feeds' are irrelevant, other than the one that we have a policy at work, though I did think all offices had the same policy right now.
My pregnancy doesn't actually matter, nor does my husbands asthma. He should have left, even if I wasn't pregnant and was married to the healthiest man alive and wasn't about to reach a deadline. They have no actual relevance to the fact that he should have left.

That makes no sense whatsoever and the double reference to your husband should have left is bizarre! What are you actually saying?

Are you sure you're not off your tits?

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 30/10/2021 23:19

Well, if that makes no sense to you, I can't help you. Sorry.

Although the OP could have put their point more nicely, I’m somewhat in awe of someone who has a three year old, is pregnant, has a very high powered stressful job and still has the time and energy to post 97 times on social media.

Ok, but really it makes no sense!

Your husband, asthma, should've left it's all so odd!

So irrelevant to what I've said to you

Not interested in you explaining, but so bizarre that you accuse me of being "off my tits" (charming saying BTW) because of my writing style. Yet you've addressed a complete load of irrelevant nonsense too me.. so odd.

I am childfree for 4 days 🥳👌🙏 first time since he was born. If only I could drink.

Very late in the evening.... with deadlines she's not met and cancelled annual leave.
JesusIsAnyNameFree · 30/10/2021 23:30

I won't be going into the details of my job with you, but believe me, I have done all I can possibly do for the time being 😉

Although I basically agree with the OP I thought she was being pretty awful earlier in the thread.

However most of the people having a go at her subsequently have behaved far worse.

Stellaroses · 31/10/2021 09:51
@Stellaroses every career choice is different but yes it does seem a bit off that teachers are so exposed. Could you install a screen and stand behind it?
Thank you for replying. There is absolutely no way to teach 30 9 year old effectively from behind a screen. Teaching of any standard requires quite a bit more interaction than that! I struggle to even sit at my desk to have a breather for 5mins while they're busy with a task. Someone always needs help/input.

Dnaltocs · 01/11/2021 09:55

This thread is truly worrisome.
Colds in offices are a threat.

The government’s experts have been advising for 2 years about being safe.
Why are Mums not getting this. If Mums don’t understand they can’t help support or guide their precious children.
I thought the population (mainly educated) understood this need to protect themselves and others.

I’ve been to too many funerals, and will not be in the company of cough or sniffers.
Please Mums listen to the greatly growing figures and advise our children to keep well masked and safe.

Bunsnbobbins · 01/11/2021 10:48

YANBU because cough and cold symptoms are some of the symptoms for Delta. Our gov refuse to update the symptoms for tests but even they say a new cough needs isolation and a test… nhs more than three coughing episodes in 24 hours.

My first symptoms were sore throat snd bunged up nose. The cough and fever came a day or two later.

Timescale · 01/11/2021 11:09

I find it so strange that people are insisting the OP’s colleague will just have a cold and when it turns out to be covid, they insinuate that the OP must be lying. Like what is that about? Is denial a coping strategy? I’ve no idea.

Like I said upthread, I really don’t understand why the UK is the worst in the world for covid numbers. It is complete mystery to me….

HarrietsChariot · 01/11/2021 11:14

Some of the replies here are utterly ridiculous. If it had turned out to "just" be a cold, so what? It's still a nasty infectious illness that can rapidly spread. There should be zero tolerance for people who go into the workplace when ill like this when they can easily work from home instead.

Going into the office (or staying there) when you have a cold doesn't show you are a "dedicated worker" it just shows you are a selfish wanker who doesn't care about making others ill. What might be a "mild" cold to you could put someone else in bed for a week.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 01/11/2021 11:22

I went into the office with the remains of a cold last week but I'm still coughing. It was definitely a cold and I didn't go into the office when it was at it's worst (I did go out though). Should I stay away from the office for the next few weeks until it goes?

I agree that if someone has a streaming cold and it's possible to work from home then they should but coughs linger and some people cough all the time. What do you want me to do when my allergies flare up and I'm coughing? I can't stay at home forever!
