Would you wear this out?

I purchased one of these recently - soooo comfortable and warm, I could live in it through the winter.
It's one of those oversized hoodie/blanket things - intended as a kind of dressing gown I think, but a grey and black squiggly pattern - not cutesie bunnies/unicorns etc.
This afternoon I nipped out to the supermarket in it (with leggings) I felt comfortable, and didn't feel as if everyone was staring at me & thinking who's the weirdo wandering round in pyjamas.
Would you wear it out?

I would prob wear it around the house (if it was comfy and it was a gift) but I wouldn't wear it out. Would not think twice if anyone else wire it. The things I see people wear makes this look tame.

MeltedCheeseonTop · 25/10/2021 22:48

Depends. Evening dog walk, pop to local small coop (on foot - although I have no idea why this matters!!!) yes.

Supermarket, kids football training, no.

There is no logic to my reasoning.

stingofthebutterfly · 25/10/2021 22:52

No, because no doubt it'd make me look like a fucking whale.

DoAsYouWouldBeMumBy · 25/10/2021 22:52

It looks much better than the dry robes that half the women in my (admittedly seaside) town wear while doing all sorts of things that are not swimming. I would look silly in that top because I have massive busts, but I'm sure you look fine, and were nice and cosy too 🥰

mirijones · 25/10/2021 22:54

No

gofg · 25/10/2021 22:54

It just looks like an oversized hoodie to me - I wouldn't look twice at anyone wearing this out.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 25/10/2021 22:56

No. I would not wear this out. Not ever. I would be momentarily fascinated by you wearing it. Not judgey. But surprised.

XenoBitch · 25/10/2021 23:00

I would. Looks nice and comfy and will keep you snug if it is cold out.

Hairyfriend · 25/10/2021 23:03

I have something similar called an Oodie. Its massive and I can barely wear it inside the house due to the oversized arms and bulk of the thing!
I've never worn it in the garden, let alone to a shop! Mine would look ridiculous with leggings. Sorry, but I agree that yours looks like a Halloween outfit.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 25/10/2021 23:06

I wouldn't wear it, but it wouldn't raise any eyebrows around here.

wolfstarling · 25/10/2021 23:10

Grin No way.

DramaAlpaca · 25/10/2021 23:12

No. I wouldn't wear it at all (sorry)

wolfstarling · 25/10/2021 23:12

I wouldn't wear it inside either. It would really unsettle me if anyone wore this top in my house sorry OP.

The pattern is awful!

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 25/10/2021 23:13

I wouldn’t wear it anywhere

wolfstarling · 25/10/2021 23:16

Sorry that top will give me nightmares, like the ones with holes.

Where's the OP? You can't just park that here with no warning. I feel mildly disturbed to say the least.

DontPeeInThePlayHouse · 25/10/2021 23:17

It's just a fleece isn't it? Yes I would, but I prefer comfort over fashion.

SofiaMichelle · 25/10/2021 23:18

When you say you "could live in it", just how big is it, OP?!

Grin
Saoirse82 · 25/10/2021 23:18

I wouldn't but I wouldn't look twice at someone wearing that. I think its fine if you're just popping out in it.

ellyeth · 25/10/2021 23:22

I think it looks OK. It doesn't, to me, look like nightwear.

LittleDandelionClock · 25/10/2021 23:26

@ThinWomansBrain It's ugly. I wouldn't wear it at all.

LuluJakey1 · 25/10/2021 23:31

No- not ever.

Speakuptomakeyourselfheard · 25/10/2021 23:32

Do you all have to be so rude? Can't you just say you wouldn't wear it, and not criticise and saying insulting things like 'it's ugly' 'I don't like the pattern', 'it looks like a halloween outfit'. That's just insulting. The OP was simply asking if you'd wear it out, not asking for a critique on her taste. No wonder she hasn't come back.

RobertaFirmino · 25/10/2021 23:39

Wear whatever you want. Wear your hoody. If you're lucky, Tomasz Schafernacker might approach and use it to point out meterological phenomena!

ThinWomansBrain · 25/10/2021 23:49

thanks everyone - based on responses (and googling goonies), limited excursions out in it I think Grin
My local waitrose is a tiny one, and closer than the post box!

I stopped giving a shit about what other people are wearing a very long time ago. As long as it’s clean and you are not revealing your private parts, knock yourself out.
