My husband is off to NY for work for 4 weeks, and I thought that the least he could do was to bring back some things for me and the children (young) but I don’t know what! Please tell me what you’d like to get!
(The children have enough clothes, I really don’t think I should tell him to get those…though I really like Carter’s)

Thank you!

Crest teeth whitening strips for me!

NameChangeinHaste · 26/10/2021 19:19

Oooohhh, and some of the original cherry almond scented jergens body lotion.

Travis1 · 26/10/2021 19:21

Bath & body works candles, foaming hand soaps and hand cream.
Peanut butter m&ms

I always stock up on BBQ and steak seasonings when in the US, yes we have them but some of them I can’t find an alternative for such as Johnny’s Seasoning Salt.

I agree with the large packs of ibuprofen and paracetamol in whatever the US name is for these drugs. Just so handy to keep a large bottle in.

Intrigued by the antibiotic cream, one for the next trip, when we can go back to the US and we’re welcomed with our AZ vaccine 😀

SpeakingFranglais · 26/10/2021 19:25

@dunkaccino

Corn tortillas for proper taco's - enough to scare airport security Aveeno antihistamine cream The same big bottles of paracetamol/ibuprofen/sleep pills that have already been mentioned Jelly belly jelly beans Secret cream deodorant (have almost finished my stash) Mane & tail shampoo & conditioner is a lot cheaper if you use it The gummy bear type of vitamins (although I think you can get them here now?) Old Navy for good basic clothing (order online for collection) An iron skillet (was bloody heavy but a brilliant buy) and holders for the handle! Something amazingly american naff from Cracker Barrel (looking at you cowboy boot lamp!) Ruffles. Not sure what witchery goes into the basic potato snack but I bloody love them
You could get gummy bear vitamins here 12 years ago, or even more. I know, I used to buy them for the kids, who are now 27 and 24
SpeakingFranglais · 26/10/2021 19:26

Agree Old Navy T-shirt’s are the best quality and so cheap.

TomAllenWife · 26/10/2021 19:28

And Snyders honey mustard and pretzel pieces
Large Tesco, international food aisle - I like the jalapeño ones. Or I did until I realised they were available all year round in my one horse town.
Poppets14 · 26/10/2021 19:33

Raspberry m&ms
Candy corn

Blaziken · 26/10/2021 19:51

I'm going to NY next year and this thread has got me SO excited! Can't wait to go to Sephora again.

LouLou198 · 26/10/2021 19:54

Goldfish crackers! I've had a craving for them since we were last they in 2017. They do sell on Amazon but the price is ridiculous!!

gogohm · 26/10/2021 19:57

@bookish83

Got to laugh - trader joes is owned by Aldi! Aldi is better value

gogohm · 26/10/2021 19:59

@Zfactorstar

No idea, it's available over the counter at any supermarket and cheaper in the U.K. too. You can buy big packets at pharmacies too!

Turtles4543 · 26/10/2021 20:01

Niquil, Crest white strips and some crayola bits here

What are crayola bits?
MrsClatterbuck · 26/10/2021 20:05

@MrsSchadenfreude

If you have a daughter, a book or doll from the American Girl shop. Bath and Bodyworks is fab - my DDs like the tiny hand sanitisers. Agree re M & Ms. The pretzel ones are good. Also Jolly Rancher hard candy and different flavour Oreos. I always spend a fortune on kitchen stuff at Williams Sonoma.
Love love William Sonoma and the Pottery Barn. Also Sephora. And peanut butter M&Ms. In William Somona at Christmas they do this peppermint bark which is absolutely wonderful. Can't remember its proper name but I love it. My ds sent some over one Christmas. They live over the border from NY. I really think he needs an assistant to accompany him and help carry his bags.
thewhatsit · 26/10/2021 20:10

Whenever our American colleagues at work came over they’d bring loads of Hershey’s Kisses which would then just sit on people’s desks until they inevitably got binned. I’m not sure why but they all seemed to be under the impression we liked when everyone thought they were vile.
Peanut butter M&Ms though, that’s a good shout.

Takeaway2021 · 26/10/2021 20:10

@Twirlywhirly1

A box of Lucky charms as a treat for your DC. Definitely Crest White Strips!
You can buy Lucky Charms in Asda, near me for £2.
k4523 · 26/10/2021 20:26

@Warblerinwinter well said

No need for antibiotic creams like neosporin. It's so rare that a cut gets infected anyway. I found ibuprofen/paracetamol very expensive in the US.

I do like DayQuil and NyQuil though.

Sn0tnose · 26/10/2021 20:31

@Disastermagnet27

Swedish fish!
£2 on Amazon for a bag of red ones.
LocoCoconanas · 26/10/2021 20:39

An entire suitcase of bath and body works foaming hand soaps and pocket bac hand gels. Oh and the candles!

MissConductUS · 26/10/2021 21:18

You're either shopping in the wrong place or buying a tiny package. Generic ibuprofen is available for about $0.02 per 200mg tablet.

Pachonga · 26/10/2021 21:24

Quick swipe of antibiotic cream makes things heal a lot quicker though. I don’t suppose a couple of tubes will make much difference to your resistance levels, especially if shared between the family

Courtier · 26/10/2021 22:06

Melatonin, Sephora own brand lipstick.
