I usually wait until November at least to try and save a little money but it's so cold, I want to give in! 🥶

If I want to put my heating on in my house for which I pay the bill to keep me warm then I do not need validation from an online forum

I’ve put mine on already. I had three years where i didn’t use the heating at all because I couldn’t afford it. I was freezing all the time , even when wearing several layers, hats scarves and gloves inside and bundled up in sleeping bag. i had water running down the walls and it was miserable.

Always a bit perplexed to see reports on tv of increasing fuel costs and people saying their heating costs are too high: they’re often wearing a t-shirt. It’s October.
We layer up and don’t usually need the heating on until close to Christmas (accept when young grandchild visits).

Doesn't the air feel cold though? That's my biggest problem. That and sitting next to a solid brick outside wall when I'm WFH!“

It probably does but after being married to a very hot blooded person for decades and producing similarly hot blooded children (🙄), I honestly don’t notice any more. I did at first. I have Raynauds disease, my hands are usually purple when I walk outside by about September but I really don’t feel cold at home. Lack of windchill, I expect.
We bought a bio ethanol fireplace for the sitting room last year, mostly because it looks really pretty but it’s surprisingly effective at quickly warming just that room if I do feel chilly.

Every year there's a spate of competitive non heating posts on MN.

I feel the cold terribly so my heating has been on since the weather started getting chilly. If it's cold outside my heating goes on regardless of which month we're in.

I'm not a martyr and I see no virtue in suffering in the cold. And no, I'm not sitting here in a T-shirt, I'm wearing a thermal vest, a long sleeved woollen jumper and a thick cardigan.

Obviously, if you can't afford to heat your house, that's a different matter but if you can afford it why would you not be comfortable.
