as I'm finding things pretty grim at the moment, I was wondering if other posters would like to share what's cheered them up today - no matter how fleetingly.
Mine has been discovering videos of Stanley Tucci cooking on Youtube. What a cool guy.

I found a video of a piglet having a bubble bath in a baby bath. That entertained me and the 6 year old for several loops

Last week I played tennis and I got annihilated by five different people. This week I spent an hour on my own practicing serves and this week, I only lost 4/5 games!!

Booboosweet · 21/10/2021 21:22

Watching the beautiful autumn leaves on the trees as I drove back through Meath from work.

AppaTheSixLeggedFlyingBison · 21/10/2021 21:22

I had a really good day at work. None of my trains were delayed, we all went for lunch as a team, and I got positive feedback on some work I had done Smile

I got a new job today

A robin in the apple tree singing his little heart out.

My baby went in her sling today peacefully and we had a lovely walk with my Dad in the sunshine.

Our rescue catboy chose to sit on my fiance's lap tonight!!!

My best friend lives 75 miles away and though we talk several times a week I'd not seen her in person since July last year. Today she drove through to visit. It was so lovely to see her properly and have a right good natter.

She left at 8pm and I've just had the biggest smile on my face all evening.

That’s fantastic @Lynne1Cat! Great that you’re getting stronger!

Finished my dental treatment today Wink

My builder-friend came round and nodded approvingly at all the stuff I got for him to put in, tape measures were involved. Hope to see him next week.

And my brilliant walking boots - bought by chance the Sunday before last from a Charity Shop unexpectedly open - for £5.99.

It's like walking on clouds.

EwwSprouts · 21/10/2021 21:39

DS age 17 had a couple of friends round & they were in the den. One of the friends came out just to say hello & have a quick chat. I know he was probably killed off in some game but it was lovely to see they're growing into personable young men.

Playing with my lovely neighbour’s lovely cocker spaniel.

Bit more niche, but a few years back there was a hideously expensive mohair jumper in Whistles that I desperately wanted. It came down in the sale to an affordable price, but sold out in my size before I could get one. In the summer an eBay alert came up for it, and I snagged it BNWT for 1/4 of the original price. Today I wore it for the first time and I felt amazing in it! Good things come to those who wait.

You need to watch the film Big Night, pet project of Stanley Tucci all about a fantastic meal (and much else). I had a good day today. Swept up outside, worked an extra hour and don't have to go in tomorrow, made a Disco playlist

I got to hold a skinny pig! They’re a type of hairless Guinea Pig and are so lovely.

Two things: I have the snuggliest kitten curled up on me. And my daughter playing her harp and improvising hauntingly beautiful music. How did I make that?!

MissMarplesGoddaughter · 21/10/2021 21:53

I picked a rose from my garden today. It's scented and is now in a vase on the kitchen window sill. I admire it every time I go to the sink.

My adult daughter telling me she loves me so much Smile x

EgSk · 21/10/2021 22:04

My two year old was helping me do laundry and when he saw the numbers on the washing machine he tried counting out of order 1,4,6,3,8,9,2,10 ! It put a huge smile on my face 🤗

I'm not obese anymore. I've moved into the overweight category again. Woo-hoo!

I haven't told anyone apart from dh because friends and family don't know I'm losing weight; if they do they'll start piling in with the shit advice like, "The less you eat, the more weight you'll put on..." Confused

butteredbarmbrack · 21/10/2021 22:13

I went for drinks with lovely colleagues after work. We're just starting to go into the office more but hadn't had a group outing since pre-lockdown. The organiser found a bar which had an outdoor terrace so it didn't feel too weird after all the social distancing and we could actually hear each other speak rather than indoors where it felt incredibly loud having not been in bar-type environments for so long!

LoveFall · 21/10/2021 22:17

Listening to the Stellar's Jays we always see at this time of year. They make quite a loud distinctive sound.

I was child free all day, for the first time this year.

CottageOnTheHill · 21/10/2021 22:20

We spent the day with DD and her DP. It was so lovely to see them and to be told that I’m going to be a gran in May.
