as I'm finding things pretty grim at the moment, I was wondering if other posters would like to share what's cheered them up today - no matter how fleetingly.
Mine has been discovering videos of Stanley Tucci cooking on Youtube. What a cool guy.

My daughter is learning to crawl and starting to get into things now and today she decided she wanted to be a LOUD baby. So kept yelling, then she would pause and I'd yell back and we would both laugh. Her little smile melts my heart.

My DS held hands with his friend on the way back from school. He has struggled with the first term and his teacher wants to start him with an ASD assessment but to see their cheeky little faces talking and the absolute joy when they saw each other was lovely.

PlanetTeaTime · 21/10/2021 20:44

@thefirstmrsrochester that's so lovely

A text from a long lost friend :)

A cup of tea

A walk through rustling, bright autumn leaves

My son’s reaction at seeing the cake k made him for his 17th birthday today. He wanted one shaped like a hedgehog - in the style of the nailed it version (the bad one). I exceeded the brief.

Waiting for my (delayed) follow-up appointment with a cosmetic surgeon, I was listening to the receptionist wax lyrical about a fancy skin product. I googled it and talked myself out of spending the money. But I really wanted it! Surgeon gave me one - without knowing any of this - to apologise for how long I had to wait! I know it’s shallow but i was really chuffed!

I'm unemployed but in a recruitment process for a job. Today I had a chat with the Chairman of the role I'm up for that went very well and I also received a couple of emails about another big role, about potential consultancy and an interim opportunity. I replied to all and then went to an Art Gallery with a friend. It felt great today because yesterday I was worrying about my final redundancy payment coming in and how long I had to survive.

A pygmy marmoset. Just gorgeous, and its sweet little face was about the size of a 2p!

LagunaBubbles · 21/10/2021 20:49

Being told I had did really well with a presentation at work.

YesIcan3 · 21/10/2021 20:50

Getting a fantastic report from parents evening from school, little angels and role models. Makes me very happy 😊 I don't get to see that side unfortunately Grin

EishetChayil · 21/10/2021 20:50

Baby DD made a lady smile in Sainsbury's today, which in turn made me smile!

Cazck · 21/10/2021 20:51

My boy has been getting alot of hassle from his football teammates about not being very good in goal. He smashed it tonight at training and he looked so chuffed with himself.

I feed our back garden scrub jays (similar to a blue jay) peanuts and they will call for me if they don’t see any. I had a family squawking madly for me today. They then select one, drop it, pick a better one and then hide it. They are better friends to me than some people I know!

themadcatparade · 21/10/2021 20:53

We got Coldplay tickets 😍

anunseemlylovefordustin · 21/10/2021 20:59

My 4 yr old explaining to me, very seriously, that pink ants are full of lightning and that they can burn you with it.

TheMadGardener · 21/10/2021 21:02

Being given an unexpected packet of Jaffa cakes by a school colleague as a thank you for taking over her class yesterday at 30 seconds notice when she had an emergency.

Also for the last three days I have driven home from school across Dartmoor in thick grey fog and driving rain which has been really depressing. Today I drove home in brilliant sunshine which really made me happy!

Lynne1Cat · 21/10/2021 21:07

I walked about a mile into town, without stopping or getting out of breath - not much to most people, but as I had Covid, Pneumonia, and a stroke (all whilst on a ventilator for 2 weeks) in July, I felt really pleased with myself.

frumpety · 21/10/2021 21:12

Watching my, new to me, dogs face when I let her off the lead for the first time today and she got all giddy kipperish Smile

Time40 · 21/10/2021 21:12

Outdoor swimming in the lido this morning.

TheZeppo · 21/10/2021 21:14

My year 11s finished an assessment yesterday so I offered them a ‘treat’ lesson (they’ve worked bloody hard).

I suggested they pick a film- they unanimously asked for ‘An Inspector Calls’.

Seriously, teacher goals right there!

Perturbdisturb · 21/10/2021 21:15

I fixed something on my bath, on my own, remembered how to do it and pulled out my own plumbing tools. It's my house, I've bought as a new divorcee, and it made me feel so successful and happy.

shouldistop · 21/10/2021 21:17

Having a story, cuddle and chat with 5yo ds1 at bedtime. It's a lovely 30 mins we have together every night after the baby is in bed. When it was time to say good night he said "goodnight mummy, I love you all the way to heaven". He's so sweet Smile

StylishDuck · 21/10/2021 21:19

My colleague messaged me to say she had been in an hour long meeting with her manager and didn't realise until she came out that the underwire from her bra had come loose and was poking quite visibly out the top of her shirt. Childish but we both had a good giggle at it over lunch.

muddyford · 21/10/2021 21:20

Standing in the sunshine, watching my clever dog doing blind retrieves (where he hasn't seen the object but trusts I know it's there), obeying my hand signals.
