... to think that Joan Collins is a very interesting speaker.

I heard an interview with her on an Irish radio station with her during the week. I didn't hear the start, and it took a few minutes for me to figure out who she was. She's incredibly articulate and such a strong speaker for a person of her age!

I only know her from being author of books (which I never read) and being from Dynasty (which I've never seen). DH tells me she was also in the original Star Trek??

She is advertising a new book of course, but very interesting speaker nonetheless!

She's is in her late 80s. There was a piece about her in one of Sunday newspaper magazine sections last week. She looks amazing! Probably a mixture of Photoshop and surgery? But she was always very pretty when youngers.

Never seen Dynasty, but read a few of her books. My mum used to have some of them, I'd borrow them from time to time at night, glance through and find the interesting sections Blush

nicecoffeecup · 16/10/2021 17:44

The books might have been by her sister actually. She was a famous author of those bonk busters.

Redpriestandmozart · 16/10/2021 17:47

I saw her on the One Show during the week and thought exactly the same, a very strong voice for her age. I also noticed she wasn't wearing gloves to hide her hands which she did for many years. I thought she was wonderful.

Winniewonka · 16/10/2021 17:55

I really like Joan Collins, she's had a really full on, interesting life. I remember reading one thing that she is very proud of and that's she's always had very clear diction. She's right, she does.

stonebrambleboy · 16/10/2021 17:55

for a person of her ageShock

chillied · 16/10/2021 17:58

No Joan Collins wrote some autobiographical books. If you're interested in her OP, worth seeking out.

ScienceSensibility · 16/10/2021 18:01

Love Joan Collins.

She is fascinating and has so many great stories to tell.

I also think her diction is perfect. If only everyone spoke like her...

icelollycraving · 16/10/2021 18:05

I bloody love Joan Collins. She’s lived a life.
When I wear my hair big with a bit of leopard I feel very ‘steamy racy novel’ Grin

TSSDNCOP · 16/10/2021 18:07

Her opening scene in Dynasty was fantastic! Her original character was amazing, brilliant villain to the simpering Krystal.

CyclingUpHill · 16/10/2021 18:08

I have actually seen the Star Trek episode she was in. Kirk travelled back in time, and I won't tell you the ending though!!

I read a long interview with her many years ago where she discussed her early life before being famous. It was far from easy family life, she was raped as a teenager, school struggles, etc.

I've seen some photos of her from the 50s. She was a real beauty. I also remember reading quickly through her (or her sisters?) books to find the good bits :)

TSSDNCOP · 16/10/2021 18:09

Completely agree about her diction, her timing is utter precision.

CyclingUpHill · 16/10/2021 18:09

Probably awful books if I look at that again? It's a long time ago though so who knows. As a teen I just remember lots and lots of sex, and thinking it must be amazing!!

Inspirationpending · 16/10/2021 18:09

Love Joan
Her new book is on my Christmas list

Taoneusa · 16/10/2021 18:11

I feel the same way about Joan as Julian Clary did.. Grin

FlibbertyGiblets · 16/10/2021 18:11

She's ace.

AlphabetAerobics · 16/10/2021 18:21

Jackie is better known for her “bonk busters” - but Joan wrote a few too.

Sad to see that good diction seems so rare it requires celebration.

RoseLavenderBlue · 16/10/2021 18:32

Absolutely love Joan Collins, she’s a legend. She tells is as it is. Also got her book on my Christmas list. Remember when Philip Schofield came out and she was on GMB live in LA for the Oscars and said ‘but I thought everybody knew that?’ For once Piers Morgan had nothing to say (even though you could see his mouth was twitching) and they quickly removed her from the panel after the break, as they didn’t want her spilling any more beans!

LolaIsHome · 16/10/2021 18:44

Never read the books, but I've heard a few interviews from her in recent years on TV and radio. Her diction is amazing! Stunning lady!

As a teen I remember being on a sleepover with friends and someone brought along a copy of a VHS tape of the stud. I'd never seen anything like that. Wow it left a big impression and I played back parts in my mind for the next few days Confused Probably horribly cheesy it I saw it again today.

LolaIsHome · 16/10/2021 18:44

Probably horribly cheesy if I saw the movie again today.

Aquafizzle · 16/10/2021 21:14

Both her and her late sister Jackie were awesome. Did you watch the documentary about Jackie's life? She created a multi million business in a misogynistic world.
I love them both.

Campervan69 · 16/10/2021 21:17

Was she on a swing in that film? I do remember having a similar experience if so on a sleepover. Love Joanie 💜 fabulous woman.

Monkeytennis97 · 16/10/2021 21:46

I watched the documentary about her sister on IPlayer today- she's on it a lot. She really is quite remarkable and she was very beautiful in her youth.

PavlovsDoggie · 17/10/2021 00:21

She's beautiful and an interesting speaker.

But the younger husband makes me feel a bit ... What do you think?

Can't imagine wanting that at 90? But maybe never say never Smile

MassiveHoard · 17/10/2021 00:26

She is a very articulate speaker. Did the OP ask for comments about her appearance? I wish people were more interested in what women say than how they look.

Eyesofdisarray · 17/10/2021 00:31

I think she once said, when asked re the age difference with her husband,
" if he dies, he dies" 😂
