To feel so bad I have lost my diamond earrings

I have driven myself insane since realising they are gone. They were my wedding earrings and were given to me by my late grandfather. I only wore them for special occasions or work events, and either kept them in the safe or temporarily in a jewellery pouch on top of a shelf. Last sighting of the earrings was on 23 July, my first date night with my husband after a long lockdown! I am starting to think that maybe, as we came back late at night, I might have put them on top of the bedroom cabinet and they got knocked off and lost.

I have searched everywhere, in every room. Even emptied the vacuum cleaner. It just doesn't make sense, for such a valuable item, to have been lost so carelessly. I am driving myself mad with speculation: what if they were stolen? The only two people in the house since July have been my mother-in-law and a teenage neighbour (both came to cat-sit while we were on holiday). Surely not, but what if? It's a horrible feeling.

The insurance paid up to my single item limit (not the full value, but still a good amount). It's not for the money though... feeling so guilty and stupid. After this experience, I invested in Stackers and am going to send my most valuable jewellery items for a professional valuation. Don't know if I will ever be able to enjoy wearing jewellery again!

Nope; it is like tossing a coin to decide what to do about something. Concentrates the mind.

@BudgeSquare

It's a bit frightening that so many adult women think a Portuguese priest who died 800 years ago is enthusiastically helping them to find a good parking space. I hope you're all taking the piss Confused
Half of me agrees and the other half thinks that by doing it you might let it go a bit which means you stop obsessing over it and give your subconscious a chance to remember where you left it. I get that sounds crazy too, but whatever works. I mean, I say ‘touch wood’ but don’t really believe in it.

@LaurieFairyCake

I feel you - I lost one of my diamond stud earrings in the swimming pool. I was totally gutted Sad
We've found Kim Kardashian's secret account.

I have lost many earrings over the years, I now stick to cheaper ones and don't wear any at all for daily use. They're so easy to fall out!

Have just discovered huggie hoops. I often loose earrings due to long hair etc but these sort of clip into themselves? If that's the correct description?
Google , they work for me.
Sorry you have lost you diamonds . Hope one day we will get a positive update!

Well you've had it next time you go to Meadowhall 😂

I'm so sorry - it's so upsetting when that happens.

Also, it's 'Kim, there's people who are dying'.

I could never buy diamond earrings for the simple fact I have lost every single pair of earrings I have ever owned 😂

Not kidding, I literally have none left. A few months ago I wanted to wear a pair on a night out so I asked my 16yo daughter if I could borrow some of hers. She said no, I’d lose them. She eventually relented with the pinky promise that I absolutely, definitely, positively would not lose them.

I lost them.

I lost the diamond earrings that DH gave me as a wedding present Blush

After 3 years and given up hope of finding them, he's going to replace them with lab grown diamonds.
