I've made lunch. 2 hungry children. My friend is miles away. Prob had lunch by now. Cooked for 6. Only me and dh to eat. Bugger bugger bugger. Really I am so cross.

Has she forgotten? Or is she just unforgiveably late?

Have you heard from her to explain the delay? If there's a great reason for her lateness, I'd be understanding/sympathetic. If she's just being inconsiderate, I'd be fuming and wouldn't invite her again.

That's just naughty. Can you reach her?

I'd go ahead and eat by the way. If she arrives (with big apology and good explanation), she can have hers reheated.

Thank you all for letting me rant. My friend arrived finally very very late. She had underestimated how far it is from the depths of Surrey to the North Norfolk coast, which is a hell of a hike for only a weekend, let alone just lunch.

We all had about 2 lunches, and we have all eaten everything and it was very delicious in the end!

I can't stand lateness. So bad mannered. I would eat and leave hers in the oven drying out.

She could at least have phoned you when she realised she wasn't going to get to you on time. There's no excuse for her not to have let you know what was happening. It's common politeness. Glad that it all ended well though.
