DD13 won't wear a bra

She's a size 32DD so could do with the support, IMO. But she doesn't like bras. Obviously I can't make her wear one. I've read an article saying that not wearing a bra can make the muscles stronger so they won't droop. Her body, her choice.
Interested to hear from anyone else who has a DD with the same stance or who themselves don't wear bras.

So don't make her. I wear comfy soft, GAP sports bras (more like bralets). Would she wear that? I only wear them because I have nipples that are always under the impression they're cold.

Bras are annoying fuckers. Although don't let her do what a young woman wore on the tube the other day - no bra and a crochet top. The carriage didn't know where to look.

Pre kids/30s, I was a 34DD. I went out without a bra for a few days, to see what it would be like. Got mocked and laughed at by men, leered at, and at one point two guys, whilst laughing at me, said " that girls.needs a bra!". I was so humiliated I never went without ever again. It's up to your dd. Men are vile however.

Don't trust M&S. To be frank they are useless (well at least everyone I went to!)

If at 13 she's in a DD (you haven't said her back size) then tbh she needs to go to a proper bra shop, e.g. bravissimo and sized properly. And to find something she likes and is confortable in. Different makes of bras can be totally different in size/comfort.

Marks were out massively on my size. I'd get her measured properly, not just by someone with a tape measure....

I’m a 32E and I rarely wear a bra. Never wear one at home or at weekends, and I only wear a cotton bralet to work.
I weight train and it definitely improves perkiness. Recommend weight training for everyone to do - it has so many benefits.

NotMyCat · 14/10/2021 21:42

Agree M&S useless. They put me in a 40HH which was around my neck at the back and dropping at the front
I'm a size 16 and actually a 34K

Guetzlibache · 14/10/2021 21:55

Hi,I have never worn a bra (62years old).I dont even know what bra size I would be.Wearing size 10/12 in tops. Please support her in her wish not wanting to wear a bra.

Skysblue · 14/10/2021 22:14

I absolutely hate bras and rarely wear them, but I’m a only a b cup. I do wear one for jogging and it is a much bigger band size than I measure.

Sloggi do some good pullover bralets, or maybe get her a camisole so people can’t see her nipples through school shirts. Basically search amazon for bralet and camisole…

(When I breastfed my nipples weren’t sore/cracked at all and the midwife said this was probably because I didn’t wear bras so the skin was used to fabric rubbing and got a bit stronger 🤷‍♀️)

I did hear that not wearing bras makes your breasts saggy. My breasts were perky until breastfeeding and saggy after 🤣 I don’t think bras had much to do with it.

Skysblue · 14/10/2021 22:15

Ah I remember, it was Sloggi zero feel bralet, they are fantastic

memememum · 14/10/2021 22:28

My dd doesn't want to so I just leave her to it. Luckily her school blouse has a dark, closely spaced pattern, so not in any way see through.

i havent worn a bra daily since about 1996! i find them uncomfortable, sweaty and just too restrictive in my breathing and movement, i have no issue with droppy boobs and im a 38d from the last time i measured them.

maybe she would prefer the soft cotton sports type ones? sorry dont know the proper name for them

one thing for sure please dont go on at her about it and make her self concious about it.

Dandy0911 · 14/10/2021 22:36

@Caramellatteplease

I bearly wear them anymore let alone DD!!!

crop tops and bralettes 90% of the time these days. Bras seem devilishly uncomfortable once you've converted

Good on your DD

Totally agree! I haven't worn a proper bra in years. I don't think I even own one! I can't stand them! No matter how perfect the fit they made me feel claustrophobic and uncomfortable. I'm a 32C, if I need to wear something for an specific outfit or exercise, crop tops.

Bras are for the devil!

RosiePosieDozy · 14/10/2021 22:40

I hated bras at that age. I had smaller breasts, about 30C. I remember wearing a sports crop top every day to school, running into the bathroom and taking it straight off. It wasn't comfy. It would dig into me.

She needs to find something that works for her. Just something comfy and that she likes. I don't wear 'proper' bras anymore. Haven't worn a wired bra for nearly two years. I go for the comfort bras. They're just really crop tops with minimal support/nipple covers.

As long as your DD has a few comfort and wired bras available to her, I would let her decide what she wears. As long as she isn't exposing herself publically in a tight top, I would leave her to choose.

Whatiswrongwithmyknee · 14/10/2021 23:46

My 14 year old is also and 32DD. She has some really soft comfortable non wired bras from m and s which whe loves. A bralet is not enough support for her (or me, I'm a g cup). We go by fit not size as I was shown in bravissimo in the past. Perhaps you need to experiment with different bras to find the comfortable style and size? I've spent 2 hrs in m and s changing rooms before doing just that!
