DD13 won't wear a bra

anicesitdownandshutup · 14/10/2021 19:10

She's a size 32DD so could do with the support, IMO. But she doesn't like bras. Obviously I can't make her wear one. I've read an article saying that not wearing a bra can make the muscles stronger so they won't droop. Her body, her choice.
Interested to hear from anyone else who has a DD with the same stance or who themselves don't wear bras.

Lots of soft bra styles around, like a cropped tops but supportive. Maybe consider trendier brands like Gilly Hicks.

Carboncheque · 14/10/2021 19:27

M&S measure badly.

Try this

SeaHollyDaiz · 14/10/2021 19:28

I haven't worn a proper bra in years, and I have massive jugs. Currently, I really like some crop tops that Tesco sell, size medium for me, remove the thin padding. Mega comfy and I find them supportive - I recommend trying them!

Terminallysleepdeprived · 14/10/2021 19:28

M&S can't measure boobs properly. Please get her measured at an independent shop or somewhere like boux avenue if you have one locally as you will get a much truer fit.

grapewine · 14/10/2021 19:31

I don't blame her.

MilduraS · 14/10/2021 19:32

Hollister do some great bralettes. I'm a 34D and have been using them since lockdown. I won't lie, they're nowhere near as supportive as a bra and wouldn't work for PE but they're so comfy!

AmDillDandin · 14/10/2021 19:32

Why does she need to be measured anywhere if she doesn't want to wear a bra?

Dojacatpaws · 14/10/2021 19:32

perhaps don't read it

I didn't get my first bra until I was about a 36C because my mother was in denial about me growing up. Tell your daughter that by the time she's 20 she'll be able to tie them in a knot round her ears if she doesn't. I speak from (almost) experience.

Hottubtimemachine · 14/10/2021 19:35

Why does she need a bra? Genuinely what is the purpose? I know the answer will be to give support- but why? Why can’t we just let them flap about?!

The truth is, this is a subject that has been done by many trolls looking for stories.

Some people may want to be aware of that.

If they don't then they can ignore my post can't they?

SmellyOldOwls · 14/10/2021 19:38

Well if she doesn't want to that's her choice but it's up to you to offer a range of bras to let her try them and see if she likes them. She may prefer something like Molke which offers good support but is also comfortable.

Interested to know why you want people to tell you about their/their daughters lack of bra?

skybluee · 14/10/2021 19:39

I have the same stance but I'm an A cup so it doesn't matter as much. I also read that study. I don't wear bras but have tried: vest tops (like camisoles), nike crop tops, bralettes (Urban Outfitters), the most comfortable I've found is in the pic attached.

Some of the sports crop tops/sports bras have great support and they are a completely different feel to bras. The sizes tend not to be A, B, C, D etc but small, medium, large.

My daughter prefers crop tops, her body, her choice.

Yep.
silverbubbles · 14/10/2021 19:43

Not wearing a bra will definitely not lead to the breast developing muscles to support themselves!!

Please this..! I was wearing bras as measured by M&S and was so uncomfortable. Then I was measured in a local independent lingerie shop and turned out to be a 38G, not a 44C.
elbea · 14/10/2021 19:43

I’d get her measured properly, not at M&S, the bra is probably really uncomfortable because it doesn’t fit

FuckeryOmbudsman · 14/10/2021 19:44

She's a 32DD by M&S measuring?

That would be a 28 something like H by boob or bust.

Are you sure, OP?

RealBecca · 14/10/2021 19:45

I stopped. Because im more comfortable braless. I don't care about keeping my tits perky for men to swoon over her.

Good for her. Fuck the patriarchy.

Helenahandkart · 14/10/2021 19:47

If she doesn’t want to wear a bra then that’s surely her decision.

RealBecca · 14/10/2021 19:47

@Ricekrispie22

If she’s comfortable and it’s not offensive to anybody

Offensive to who, exactly? Who is offended by womens bodies?

Yourstupidityexhaustsme · 14/10/2021 19:51

I hated bras my WHOLE life.

I moved to bralettes in my early twenties and crop tops after that.

French Connection ones are FANTASTIC. I bought them from our local outlet store - should have been like £50 for two but I got them for £18 but I’ve also seen them at TK Maxx. They’re like air. Keep the boobies warm and supported but without the constriction I couldn’t recommend them more.

NowEvenBetter · 14/10/2021 19:51

‘My child won’t wear a bra. Anyone else want to talk about braless kids? Oh, here’s a list of the type of bras she wears.’
