To think he is taking the piss?

DoggyDaycarer · 13/10/2021 22:29

I’ve been with my boyfriend for 6 months and for the most part, he’s been wonderful. He started a doggy daycare business during the pandemic alongside his full time job and sometimes asks me to help out, which I don’t mind.

He mostly works from home, but sometimes he gets called into the office. Today he was called into the office, so asked if I’d mind taking care of the dogs he has staying at daycare. I said I didn’t mind, but was meeting a friend for lunch so would have to fit it around that. I managed to fit it all in, but was stressed all day about the dogs potentially causing damage / urinating / defecating. Luckily the dogs were okay as I managed to only leave them for a few hours. BF was meant to be back at 6pm, which meant the dogs would only be left a couple of hours between me leaving and him returning from his office. I work until 8pm so made it clear I couldn’t look after the dogs. I get a text at 5.30 saying he won’t be back at 6pm and could I please go over and see the dogs. He said he’d be back by 10pm. I agreed but I told him I wouldn’t get to his until 9pm. By the time I got to his, they’d pooed on the floor and ripped flooring and furniture. I cleaned all that up, let them out, fed them etc. Then I get a phone call at 10pm saying he is still at the office and won’t be back for another hour and a half at least! He’d been out drinking with colleagues, so it’s not that he’s been caught up with work. I’d planned to stay tonight anyway, but that’s not the point. I feel like my kindness has been taken advantage of and doesn’t bode well for the future.

AIBU to think this is taking the piss out of me?

Op, your post reads about how he is taking the piss out of YOU. Which he is. But did you give any thought to how terribly he's taking the piss out of his clients?

KaptainKaveman · 14/10/2021 08:15

If he treats the dogs like that OP, just imagine how he would treat any kids he might father....I'd run a mile if I were you tbh.

Ourlady · 14/10/2021 08:17

I'm sure this is a fake thread just to get all the dog owners worked up.

vivainsomnia · 14/10/2021 08:18

Outrageous! He needs reporting. How dare he show so little care for the dogs when getting paid large amounts. This is why I don't trust them.

Utterly disgusting and grant, shame in you for enabling it.

EatYourVegetables · 14/10/2021 08:21

I first misread the opening post as “he started a dodgy business” instead of “doggy business”, and it seems it was an accurate reading.

Sadly it happens.

I reported someone just like this guy this summer. I 2as walking my dog at 6:30am as was already hit and passed a car parked with 5 dogs in it. There was a sticker on it to advertise his business. He had clearly left them there all night.

I passed again at 8am just to be sure, dogs still in the car, sun shining right on the car, only one window with a tiny opening.

I hope he lost his business.

Luckingfovely · 14/10/2021 08:22

This says an awful lot about his character. He is not honest or trustworthy.

JapanJetplane · 14/10/2021 08:25

He’s taking the piss out of you and also the people whose doge he is claiming to look after while actually leaving alone all day. That’s absolutely shocking.

The dishonesty would put me right off him, but at the very least you should never give him help with it again.

suspiria777 · 14/10/2021 08:41

Wow.
Whistleblow to his clients, inform the council (and probably HMRC by the sounds of his scruples) and dump his useless arse. This is ridiculous in so many ways. Those poor doggies!

Did you call the police about the dogs in the hot car at all, or just rubberneck a few times?
LadyCatStark · 14/10/2021 08:50

@suspiria777 @vivainsomnia literally says as her first words in her post that she reported him… 🙈

vivainsomnia · 14/10/2021 08:55

Called the police. The car was gone 1/2h later so don't know if the showed up or not.

I couldn't read further on this one, but thank God for that.

DamnShesaSexyChick · 14/10/2021 08:57

Why hadn’t the dogs been collected by 9pm?

vivainsomnia · 14/10/2021 08:59

Read it again and can't see where she says this!

alansjsnlpo · 14/10/2021 08:59

This seems ridiculous, you don't run a doggy day care business by locking them in your house alone. The owners could do that for free in their own house whilst they go to work. They would have also been collected way before 9pm presumably. Very weird story,

suspiria777 · 14/10/2021 09:01

@vivainsomnia glad you reported it -- sorry i missed that in your earlier post!

girlmom21 · 14/10/2021 09:22

Are you sure it's not boarding that he does rather than doggy day care?

You need to dump and report the prick. He's neglectful and selfish.

ButterflyAway · 14/10/2021 09:36

What kind of doggy daycare takes dogs overnight? Confused

TravellingSpoon · 14/10/2021 09:39

How can he take clients money and leave the dogs on thier own for hours?

I dont have a dog, but if I did and put it in 'doggy daycare' I would expect the same level of attention I would get if I had put a child in day care. At the very minimum someone there with them all day.

VanGoghsDog · 14/10/2021 09:42

I think you're getting confused, I think the poster was asking you if you reported the dogs in the car and another poster said you had said this at the start of your post.

Nothing to do with the OP.

LannieDuck · 14/10/2021 09:58

No more helping him out with this... at all. Even if it seems like a reasonable request and you're available, because he's shown he'll take the piss and won't care that you're left holding the baby.

vivainsomnia · 14/10/2021 10:00

@VanGoghsDog, I need to back to bed for more sleep 😁

SwankyPants · 14/10/2021 10:12

TheUnbearable · 14/10/2021 10:32

Dump him and report him to the Council for having an unregistered business and inform his clients.

Whitney168 · 14/10/2021 10:50

Taking advantage of you would frankly be very low on my list of worries on this situation. Poor dogs and owners who are trusting him.

I would never ship my dogs out to someone's home like this anyway, fraught with possible issues even where people are well-meaning, but this is just so wrong. Angry
