Who starts to reply to a thread and then thinks 'Oh shut the f*ck up'?

I've been on Mumsnet a long time, under different names, different topics etc.
Interested to know if anyone else has written really heartfelt replies and then just deleted them. For me, it's not a confidence thing or the fact that someone has already had tonnes of replies. I can't put my finger on why I write and delete! Seems such a waste of effort.
Am I being unreasonable to do this, I should just reply and not care about the consequences (tendency to be a bit blunt when I write/shoot from the hip).

I do that more often than I post 🤷🏼‍♀️

AutistAwayWithUrConditionalLuv · 08/10/2021 10:11

I do this often for various reasons - some if which have already been mentioned.

The main one is if my post is turning out to be word salad, I think "Oh just shut it!" and give up, delete and hide the thread.

LizzieW1969 · 08/10/2021 10:12

I do this a lot and I’m really glad to know I’m not the only one! I just feel, can I really be bothered to get involved in this argument??

Thecathouse · 08/10/2021 10:14

All the time, started just posting it a few times recently then realised mumsnet is probably full of the wrong demographic for my opinions

I'm sure I sound horribly uneducated and from the underclass in most of my replies. But then I'm from a background where becoming working class (by getting your first bog standard shop / care job) is really celebrated so I guess I am

I often think as much as I love reading the threads perhaps I shouldn't post on anything that requires an educated answer or one from personal experience, I'm just not gr8 the same background as most users so our experiences will differ and mine may not be much use to them.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 08/10/2021 10:27

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this.

RaisedByPangolins · 08/10/2021 10:33

Yep! I usually write a long post, going off on a tangent about myself and DP, probably putting way too much outing info on there and then realise I haven’t actually said much of any use to anyone else, just vented about my own situation Grin

All the time! I'm vegan and manage to even piss myself off!

I don't understand what relevance your dietary habits have to the conversation, unless you are suggesting that being a vegan is a virtue?

How do you know if someone is a vegan? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you.

Gothichouse40 · 08/10/2021 10:37

Unfortunately I shouldn't post then do, then often ( not always) regret it, or think why on earth did I say this. Hence I will be taking more of a break from the boards in future. Sadly, I can come across as brusque, which in real life I'm not.

DroopyClematis · 08/10/2021 10:50

I know what you mean @Gothichouse40 .

The number of times I've pressed enter then immediately I regret what I've said.

I now find myself rechecking , doubting then delete.

Me too. Fully.

And autist “oh just shut it” - me too and that really made me laugh.
