Cheese boards ffs light hearted

Has the cheese board obsession taken over everywhere or just where I live. In the past month iv had at least 8 people try talk me into buying a cheese board off them, I don’t even like cheese. Iv just had a girl I went to school with message me saying she’s doing them and a bloody price list, I ignored the messages. If I tell them I don’t like cheese they try convince me to at least try. The prices are mad and if I really wanted one I could get the stuff in Tesco for half the price.
Has the cheese boards taken over everywhere or do different areas have different fads?

@dreamingbohemian - our local person hun gets a cardboard cake box and fills it with babybell (still wrapped) the garlic and herb soft cheese that comes in logs bust she's sliced it up, cubes of mixed sweaty cheddar and then some artfully made salami roses, rolled ham, some quartered pork pies, crackers and a bunch of grapes. This sells for £20+ and she seems to do a good trade...

I call this the 'what's lurking in the fridge' meal for when I can't be arsed to cook and make precisely nothing from it so who's really winning? 🤷🏻‍♀️😅

@Pythonista yes he does bring work home! We have a whole shelf in the fridge for cheese and yogurt Blush

@Graphista exactly! When you see how much care professionals take with cheese, the idea of random cheese boards from a complete strangers home kitchen is really off-putting. Are they storing at the right temperature? Wearing gloves? Keeping certain cheeses apart? Probably not.

Shock

sweaty cheddar cubes are the devil's own

Who is buying these?? It's just a bunch of stuff you can get cheaper at Aldi or Tesco. For 20£ you can get a selection of really gorgeous cheeses from a cheese shop, online even

dreamingbohemian · 05/10/2021 11:24

Not so much for my waistline but yes : )

labazslovesliving · 05/10/2021 14:57

cheese boxes? dont like the sound of that I mean were they kept at the right temperature how long out the fridge etc? i always find these selection things contain things I don't like so if i buy lots of cheese say at Xmas i prefer to buy individual packets so i get what i like and no waste

ChargingBuck · 05/10/2021 15:06

Grin Grin Grin

Cheers OP I want a fucking cheese board now.

Can you send me a link to this enterprising cheese-girl's price list?
It would be useful to have black market or specialist contacts like her, because sourcing cheese is next to impossible without them ...

ChargingBuck · 05/10/2021 15:07

Is this the Cheese Girl you went to school with OP?

zukiecat · 05/10/2021 15:10

@GsSar

Lots of people don't like cheese

My mother and my eldest daughter can't stand the stuff.

I'd be happy if I never saw cheese again

ChargingBuck · 05/10/2021 15:12

I've never been one to buy food from these "cottage industry" type sellers

Wot - not even from a cottage cheese industry, @Graphista?

ChargingBuck · 05/10/2021 15:17

And I have a cheese slate.

A proud boast, @Twofurrycats!

Was it a Halloween themed cheese box?

Halloumien.
