Cheese boards ffs light hearted

Has the cheese board obsession taken over everywhere or just where I live. In the past month iv had at least 8 people try talk me into buying a cheese board off them, I don’t even like cheese. Iv just had a girl I went to school with message me saying she’s doing them and a bloody price list, I ignored the messages. If I tell them I don’t like cheese they try convince me to at least try. The prices are mad and if I really wanted one I could get the stuff in Tesco for half the price.
Has the cheese boards taken over everywhere or do different areas have different fads?

Urgh, what a thought: a box of sweaty dairy products “curated” into an overpriced cheese board.

I’m no hygiene freak but if some of the sweet boxes and grazing tables I’ve seen are anything to go by, a cheese board makes me a bit queasy.

After all, cheese needs to be stored caerphilly.

Bits of chopped up pork pie stuffed next to grapes, with a few twirls thrown in

I don't mind an orange twirl but pork pie twirl is pushing it😱

FedNlanders · 04/10/2021 19:59

My friend tagged me last night a girl on a local Facebook market page selling shoes marked as only worn once, they looked like she went running through a muddy field for a few weeks then wiped them with a baby wipe. She was 100% serious about them

Is it the latest MLM? Or do they just go to the supermarket, unwrap some cheese and let it sweat for a day or two.

@Blahdyblahbla

Jeez around here it's "grazing boards" they look absolutely fucking putrid. Bits of chopped up pork pie stuffed next to grapes, with a few twirls thrown in. The women selling them look like absolute swanky cows you wouldn't lodge a dog with. If FB wasn't fuxked I'd find you a picture. The Huns seem to be buying them, I wonder if it's something to do with buying each others crap in order to claim to be self employed for some reason. I really can't fathom it.
I wonder whether this is regional. I haven’t seen anyone selling cheeseboards but grazing tables seem to be the “in thing”. It’s food thrown onto a table, it’s disgusting and really unappetising. I love cheese, I might have got excited about that.
Goshitstricky · 04/10/2021 20:10

We have a run on the 'grazing platters' one woman also sells 'sandwich trays' which are literally ham and cheese sarnies cling filmed onto a silver foil tray and she charges £15 for the privilege! Confused

HomeSliceKnowsBest · 04/10/2021 20:26

Grazing? Table? You what?

Lovealovestory · 04/10/2021 20:27

I've said YABU purely because I cant believe you don't like cheese! weirdo Grin

Grazing? Table? You what?
It’s like a buffet without plates. They just Chuck all the food straight on the table. I don’t really get it.

Grazing? Table? You what?

batmanladybird · 04/10/2021 21:03

Yes. Ugh.
Dontlickthetrolley · 04/10/2021 21:13

I'd eat this!!! A local company who I would love to order from but this feeds 20 and I'm not sure even I could manage that Grin

Cheese boards ffs light hearted
ToffeePennie · 04/10/2021 21:14

We have grazing tables, pick n mix sweets, wax melt shit and WAY TOO MUCH bodyshop @ home. Seriously. One small village of about 500 houses cannot sustain over 50 sellers of that shite.
There is a vast accompaniment of “huns” who do those horrific eyelash extension things too. They look like spiders died on their faces!

Witchcraftandhokum · 04/10/2021 21:18

Christ on a bike, I wish I didn't like cheese.

waybill · 04/10/2021 21:20

@GsSar

You don't like cheese!?!!!
What....?

Not even....... ...... Wensleydale?

AuntieJoyce · 04/10/2021 21:25

@Dontlickthetrolley I’m not sure about that. I’d expect it to come part and circle round then turn into the dancing plucked chickens from the Peter Gabriel video Grin

BrightYellowDaffodil · 04/10/2021 21:58

Not even....... ...... Wensleydale?

See, I bloody love cheese but Wensleydale is…meh. I’d rather eat a Cheesestring.

TrickorTreacle · 04/10/2021 22:19

I've known about a cheese board being a course between the main course and dessert since forever, but what are 'cheese boards' in this context?

cakewitch · 04/10/2021 22:36

And what the actual eff is a 'munchie box' ????

Ha! We had loads of these of FB during lockdown. With added french fancies Grin. But we also had some amazing caterers doing graze boxes. I bought a Spanish tapas graze box meal from one local caterer/restaurant and it was bloody gorgeous!
PixieLaLa · 04/10/2021 22:40

YABU
Cheese is life

Pythonista · 04/10/2021 22:41

@cakecakecheese

I want people to try to sell me cheese, I'd much rather that than wax melts!
Mmmm now I'm thinking of cheese melts...
Graphista · 04/10/2021 22:42

At least they won’t be selling you stale sweets in a cardboard box. Cheese is a step up.

More likelihood of food poisoning issues with cheese!

I've never been one to buy food from these "cottage industry" type sellers as you never know what their hygiene and food safety knowledge is like, there have been a number of issues with ones local to me causing food poisoning outbreaks or even "just being arsey with customers who were unimpressed with what they received.

I have a couple of close well known long term friends who make fancy celebration cakes from home BUT I know them and I know they're doing it all correctly and have their certifications etc would never buy from a random on Facebook! (Not that anyone can today!)

Far as I can tell cheeseboards haven't hit here yet but plenty of sweets, cakes, munch boxes etc and they always look very unhygienic and unappetising!

There was one pic with the item displayed on a kitchen counter and sellers car also on the counter right next to it licking its arse! Urgh! But also where is the business sense?! At least crop the damn cat out of the pic!
