Kate Middleton is a role model for me?

I like the way she looks, so pretty and stylish but classic and simple at the same time.

Slim but toned and athletic figure, meanwhile I could lose a few kg.

Her personality seems refined and elegant, you will never catch her sharing controversial opinions or offending views.

She seems to be a supportive wife and mother

Seems overall to live such an elegant life.

AIBU? To want to be more like Kate and see her as a role model?

I'm not a royal watcher but I don't agree @julieca that we have zero idea of what kind of mother Kate is.

She is the epitome of warmth, she gets down at her children's eye level when she's talking to them and she smiles warmly at them. You cannot fake that for a camera. You can't fake the beautiful photos she takes of her children either.

And she looked stunning at the Bond Premier. You can't fake that either!

Dreamstate · 03/10/2021 22:14

@Lightisnotwhite

What can she actually do though? Her job is a royal; writing letters, turning up to stuff , being supportive. As much as she’d love to run a catering company/ yoga studio / boutique clothes shop like all mums with money here …she can’t. It would be seen as profiteering or something.
There are plenty of royals around the world who have normal jobs. Its judt here in the UK they get away with not having to hiding behind being a 'royal'. Its all bs!
Changechangychange · 03/10/2021 22:14

We have zero ideas of what she is like as a mother, so strange to see her as a role model as mother

This - the idea that she was doing her own homeschooling in between Teams calls was as ludicrous as Boris’s “my hobby is making buses out of cardboard boxes” interview. We know you have about six nannies Kate, if you are doing all the homeschooling yourself what on earth are you paying your staff to do? You probably barely see your kids.

WHO IS KATE MIDDLETON???!!! I THINK YOU MEAN CATHERINE, DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE??? IT’S BEEN 10 YEARS NOW!!! LEARN HER NAME!!!! SOOOOOOOOOOO DISRESPECTFUL!!!!!!

Oh FFS of course you can. I have no idea if she is faking or not, hopefully she isn’t. But if she was a horrible mother in reality, who only sees her kids for 30mins a day and the rest of the time the nannies have them, of course she could plaster a smile on and look beatific for that short space of time.

The kids seem very well-drilled. That does not scream “warmth” to me.

Just like they are disrespectful when they preach about being environmentally friendly and go about creating more emissions that average person does in an entire yr or 5yrs!

Preaching they are down with the people, know what we are going through, aren't racist blah blah whilst taking our money.

You know they can easily turn round and say no thank you we will support ourselves, but oh no they won't and what is more disrespectful is the Queen herself ensuring she got bailed out cos her income fell during the pandemic.

Just stop and think about that for a second! Boo boo her income feel by like 4% and she has the audacity to get bailed out.

Fml how out of touch and disrespectful can you get

Stuckhere2021 · 03/10/2021 22:21

@DillonPanthersTexas

She has an army of handlers carefully managing her engagements, wardrobe, publicity and everything else. What you see is what you are allowed to see after it has been carefully packaged and sanitised. She leaves skids on the toilet bowl with the best of us.
@DillonPanthersTexas - are you saying Kate does a jobby?? ( Scots for 💩). How uncouth. I thought the Royals poo just evaporated into the atmosphere
LabiaMinoraPissusFlapus · 03/10/2021 22:22

I thought she put up and shut up after Will's shenanigans with her mate?

SleepingStandingUp · 03/10/2021 22:22

She is the epitome of warmth, she gets down at her children's eye level when she's talking to them and she smiles warmly at them but that hardly exceptional. Yeah she seems a good Mom but none of us know what she's like when she's trying to bath the baby and it's the. An ya night off and the older ones are fighting over whether they're watching Ben 10 or Bluey.

🤣 I always get down to child level, because I’ve read you should (not rocket science anyway). When mine were little, I often had other parents say how fantastic I was with them, a Pied Piper (without the ending!). Truth be told, I’m actually a bit shit with little kids and don’t much care for them. But I know to get down on my knees and smile at them 🤷🏻‍♀️

No offence to Kate - she may well be fabulous with kids. But what you’ve posted isn’t evidence of it!

postingfortraffichere · 03/10/2021 22:24

YABU, she appears submissive and is everything the patriarchy loves to keep it alive and well!

She also appears a little fake, no one can be that nice and good all the time.

postingfortraffichere · 03/10/2021 22:25

@DogFoodPie

I like Kate but I always get the feeling she is like that saying about a swan, graceful and poised on the surface but paddling furiously underneath.
Exactly this
PjsOn · 03/10/2021 22:25

So basically you think she looks pretty and dresses nicely, real role model right there 😆!! Her job - stand, look pretty, have kids, keep your mouth shut. You literally have no idea what the woman is like! Her only achievement was bagging a Prince (a rather ugly one at that). Let's all be more like role model Kate 😆.

SleepingStandingUp · 03/10/2021 22:27

bagging a Prince (a rather ugly one at that he was still swoony when she bagged him lol

Blossomtoes · 03/10/2021 22:28

@MsTSwift

Seems odd for an adult woman to have another adult woman as a “role model”. Weird. Thought only children or younger teens had role models once you are grown you are you and that’s it.
Really? I find that very odd. Surely you can see another person as someone to aspire to at any age? I’m old and Judi Dench is mine.
Chikapu · 03/10/2021 22:29

I really don't think she has much option than to appear together, she has people who help dress her, do her makeup and take care of her.
I don't think she's naturally all that attractive, she looks way older than her years and is rather bland.

viques · 03/10/2021 22:35

@DrSbaitso

She's got a job to do, and she's very good at it.
And she is two heartbeats away from another job that will test her to the extreme. I think she is probably bright enough to realise that she is enjoying the best part of her life. I don’t particularly like her, but I don’t envy her future.
Learnthroughplay3 · 03/10/2021 22:38

@Mummadeze I understand what you are saying, but to say your role models would've achieved far more than being a good mother is quite insulting to a lot of women, I personally had a horrendous mother the fact i have achieved being a wonderful mother is my biggest achievement above all

Learnthroughplay3 · 03/10/2021 22:39

But no Kate isn't my role model but each to their own.

julieca · 03/10/2021 22:40

She is studying early years development, if she didn't know that you are supposed to get down to a child's level, she really would not have learned much. Loads of Disney dads smile warmly at their kids, which proves nothing.
She might be a great mother she might not. I do wonder how close their relationship is though when George is being sent to boarding school at 8 years old.

postingfortraffichere · 03/10/2021 22:41

@SleepingStandingUp

bagging a Prince (a rather ugly one at that he was still swoony when she bagged him lol
Lol he was much better looking when she met him. Funny it's always kates appearance under scrutiny no one ever talks about the fact he has so much money at his disposal and still manages to look awful
SleepingStandingUp · 03/10/2021 22:42

she looks way older than her years and is rather bland really? How old do you think she looks @Chikapu?

Cadent · 03/10/2021 22:42

you will never catch her sharing controversial opinions or offending views.

She seems to be a supportive wife and mother

A quiet appendage to a man with zero opinions. What an inspiring role model.

Nothing against her, but I’ve listened to her vlogs, she is achingly dull.

I don't think it is at all insulting. Role models have achieved more than ordinary women. Personally, Florence Nightingale is a role model to me, she was badass, totally different from the myths.
And yes my role models achieve more than smiling warmly at their kids, getting down to their level, and looking good with nice clothes.

julieca · 03/10/2021 22:45

And she has always worn clothes too old for her and sometimes very frumpy.
