Kate Middleton is a role model for me?

I like the way she looks, so pretty and stylish but classic and simple at the same time.

Slim but toned and athletic figure, meanwhile I could lose a few kg.

Her personality seems refined and elegant, you will never catch her sharing controversial opinions or offending views.

She seems to be a supportive wife and mother

Seems overall to live such an elegant life.

AIBU? To want to be more like Kate and see her as a role model?

And a full time nanny, a PA, and as you say a stylist, a fashion consultant, a beautician, a hairdresser, and probably masseuse and whatnot.
Ridiculous to expect ordinary women to be more like this without what Kate has at her disposal

Very damaging really, that kind of pressure

ChocolateCakeYum · 04/10/2021 09:52

Not a fan of her at all. It’s all image and no substance. She’s just yet another heir and a spare producing drone with no real personality who has achieved nothing other than what is expected of her as the wife of a future king. Big deal.

Not a fan of William either (but that’s for another thread lol).

@BlueBookBag

On another note I’m leaving Mumsnet soon. Maybe later on today. Or in the early morning hours.
Grin

I wonder if Kate Middleton is on here?

BrilloPaddy · 04/10/2021 09:54

She's incredibly photogenic, but she's never once looked comfortable in her public role. She smiles beautifully but never gives an ounce of her personality away. It's all very polished and neutral but I'd imagine that's been how she's been "trained" to be.

You would hope that privately she has a bit more about her.

mustlovegin · 04/10/2021 09:54

Hence my caveat.

Many women do have the money but still manage to look overdone, appear antagonistic and problematic, etc, etc.

Roussette · 04/10/2021 10:02

Who are the women like this??
Shock

Wineandroses3 · 04/10/2021 10:09

Dreamstate what is you point? I stated she is a millionaire - because she is a millionaire- and because of that she can look immaculate all the time and afford nannies etc which is something “ordinary” people may not be able to do. At no point did I state how she because a millionaire or who funded it. Perhaps read the comments before you reply.

Learnthroughplay3 · 04/10/2021 10:13

@julieca I wasn't referring to Florence nightingale and you know it but nice to know you did a little Google 😉

MissChanandlerBong81 · 04/10/2021 10:13

We don’t know anything about her. All we know about her is that she turns up to events looks polished and attractive.

mustlovegin · 04/10/2021 10:18

Who are the women like this?

Celebrities, influencers, there are many women like this

Learnthroughplay3 · 04/10/2021 10:19

@Sweetchocolatecandy I agree completely.

You mean women should get back in their box and post themselves to the 1950's? Women know your place and stop being so "aggressive"?

I think not.

I disagree that she doesn’t look comfortable, I think she does when you see her meeting people.

I agree that she does the neutral, polished, shiny, carefully choreographed part that she’s been told to.

buttermutt · 04/10/2021 10:35

appear antagonistic and problematic,

I think the RF are incredibly problematic

mustlovegin · 04/10/2021 10:37

Do you enjoy being around women who look and act aggressive and antagonistic? I'd rather not TBH.

buttermutt · 04/10/2021 10:38

But I wish more young women were like her in terms of how she comes across, does her job and is so polished, pristine, well-mannered and never unkempt.

Fuck me! Pristine, unkempt? I don't want to wear a coat dress or curls so I guess I've failed. Why on earth should anyone aim for the above?

buttermutt · 04/10/2021 10:41

Surely context is relevant? What constitutes aggressive & antagonistic behaviour? having an opinion? saying no? Do you see Meghan as the above?

flipflopping · 04/10/2021 10:42

I think Kate is doing a good job. I'm not sure what it would mean to think of her as a role model, however- her life and mine are miles apart and not really comparable. She's also quite restricted by her role in what she can say and do (not blaming her for this- look what happened to Meghan).

Cadent · 04/10/2021 10:42

@mustlovegin

Role models are something very personal

But I wish more young women were like her in terms of how she comes across, does her job and is so polished, pristine, well-mannered and never unkempt. The resources she has at her disposal must help, obviously, but she seems to know how to put them to good use

What about young me? Why do you not have expectations for them to be pristine.

I see you are defending the police re Sarah Everard on another thread, you have some very strange views about women and from previous posts I think you’re a man.

Cadent · 04/10/2021 10:42

*young men

kierenthecommunity · 04/10/2021 10:44

But he's not just any 'rich man' he's a literal prince. Kate really pulled it off

Dunno, if anything I think Pippa has bagged herself the better deal. A squillionaire husband, a more than comfortable life and not having to deal with all that royal family bollocks?

Silvercatowner · 04/10/2021 10:44

@Macncheeseballs

She's a bit stepford
A bit....?
mustlovegin · 04/10/2021 10:46

I like men who are respectful, poised and polished too. I would rather not be around men who are aggressive and antagonistic either.

What an odd question to ask
