To feel a bit disgusted by this

NC as this is potentially outing.

My DS attends a specialist provision for children with profound, severe and complex needs. Many of the children in the building are reliant on wheelchairs and some have very limited mobility, understanding or communication. Many are attended by nurses every day at school, as they are immunosuppressed. Every single child in the building, age 3-18, is disabled in some way.

Many children will have had the jab already, due to being extremely clinically vulnerable. Nearly every parent/guardian is a carer and would have been in one of the first six groups to receive the vaccine. Staff were vaccinated early too, due to the nature of the setting.

So why the actual fuck did anti vax protestors choose to stand outside their school and picket today?

I am actually heartbroken that they could be so cruel and thoughtless. Our school community has been hit very hard by covid, some of our children have been orphaned by it.

None of the children in the building are really capable of understanding the picket, it just frightened a lot of them.

It just felt like being spat on tbh. I asked them why they were targeting a school full of disabled children and they jeered at me. It's so depressing.

No 5hat it makes any difference Op but is your childs school a stand alone building?
My son, s school is in the same building as a mainstream, although they dont mix or have the same entrance

BigGreen · 01/10/2021 19:32

Jesus, WTF a S wrong with people?

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 01/10/2021 19:34

A high school in our area has been picketed, it's just a regular school not vulnerable children, but still not acceptable. Teens have even being approached and told they'll not be able to have children if they get vaccinated.

It's a standalone building.

I am so sorry, when you think nothing else could shock you..

ElizaDarcysDeeds · 01/10/2021 19:46

That doesn't make any sense at all. Why would they protest outside any school? Surely a vaccination centre would make more sense Confused

LlamaTime · 01/10/2021 19:46

How awful, I hope it makes the news so people can see what a disgrace they are. Those poor children. Police should have dragged them away.

anon12345678901 · 01/10/2021 19:47

They are absolute scum. How disgusting of them to do this.

LynetteScavo · 01/10/2021 19:52

Why are you a bit disgusted?

This is absolutely appalling. These protesters are disgusting.

Just wow!

Upwardtrajectory · 01/10/2021 19:52

“I feel angry at anti-vaccine protestors anyway (no one is being forced to have the vaccine so what are they protesting).”

This. Who are they protesting against and what do they want to happen?

Patapouf · 01/10/2021 19:54

That is disgusting, each and every one should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. They potentially would have seriously disrupted the routines of the children in that school which could have had some really horrible consequences for the kids in terms of anxiety, stress, and impacts the families with behaviour management and seeing the child frightened and distressed.

Selfish pricks I hope they all get Covid and suffer with it (but not enough to require any burden on our health service).

RealHousewifeOfEastLondon · 01/10/2021 19:54

This just proves how little understanding and empathy these people have. No concept of life outside their own unwavering views and self righteousness.

I'm disgusted and heartbroken by this. Utter imbeciles.

Our headmaster has sent a letter to the parents saying he has received threats that the school will be picketed and to be aware.

what is actually wrong with these people? i can see the potential for things to get really violent to be honest.

Hummingbirdcake · 01/10/2021 19:56

YANBU.

brumbrum2 · 01/10/2021 19:57

Where is this school I'd like to wave some banners in their ridiculous faces ??

Tealightsandd · 01/10/2021 19:59

They're absolutely disgusting OP.

Harassing and intimidating disabled children is the lowest of the low.

They shouldn't be allowed to harass and intimidate anywhere but definitely in this case they should have been removed.

TakeMe2Insanity · 01/10/2021 20:02

This is so horrible.

overnightangel · 01/10/2021 20:03

I’d be getting pictures of them and sending them to the local paper , get them outed and shamed. Utterly disgusting behaviour

You Would think so but I have heard that some are deliberately targetting schools, to spout their nonsense at impressionable teens The irony if the children who attend the school the Op, s sons school have similar disabilities as the children that attend my son's school, they wont have the cognitive ability to understand these protesters, my son doesnt even know we have been in a pandemic for nearly two years let alone why we need vaccines, idiots like this would just scare him its sickening.
picketingpanic · 01/10/2021 20:05

Yep, my son is autistic and has a learning disability, he has no idea what covid is. Many children in his school don't.

EKGEMS · 01/10/2021 20:08

My son is 21 with severe SN and attended a few schools like this-I'd have lost my damn mind and hopefully it's the last of them protesting any school

x2boys · 01/10/2021 20:09

I hope they didnt scare your son to much Op i would be raging.

daretodenim · 01/10/2021 20:12

Dumbfounded. It's one thing being an arse online, quite another outside a school and then a whole other level outside a school full of children with so many difficulties in life,

I agree with press and police. They won't be bothered by either - one is MSM (main stream media) and the other authority. But the combo should somehow ensure they're moved, which has to be the primary goal. Its utterly outrageous.

YodaiamsaidI · 01/10/2021 20:14

What a bunch of bastards!!Angry

TopBlogger · 01/10/2021 20:14

Rarely do I want the DM to pick up and use a story...this is one of those rare times

They are disgraceful to do this outside the school @picketingpanic
