DP has just txt to say on his way home with his DD (10)
they have been to tea at his parents but she has been off school with a cough for 2 days

my DC are 5 & 3 so not sure what time 10yr olds should be in bed BUT I feel that if shes been too ill to go to school then nearly 10pm is just too late

would welcome advise from people with 10yrs olds & quite happy to hear u think this is OK cos I just dont get it

I my opinion nearly 10pm is late for a 10 yr old whether they are well or not.

My 13 yr old is in bed at 9, 9.30 at the latest when she has Guides!

coldtits · 06/12/2007 21:37

Well, I don't know, it depends how much sleep she needs. When I was 10 I rarely fell asleep before 11pm.

mistletoemiggins · 06/12/2007 21:38

I think so too pinkbubble - we dont live together so not my problem in the morning BUT I already felt she should have gone today to school and to find out still not in bed is just ridiculous!

have txt DP saying either hes lying as to where hes been or irresponsible keeping DD up til 10pm when shes been "too ill" for school

DD1 is 10 and it is lights out at 9pm for her. Otherwise she is unbearable the next day.

mistletoemiggins · 06/12/2007 21:40

but coldtits, my point is if she was too ill for school, she should be in bed early to get better & not out to tea & bed late

like I said, I dont have a 10yr old so maybe my view is wrong which is why I wanted to ask the wisdom of MN

My 15 year old is in bed by 10pm on school nights. At 10 she was in bed by 8.30.

mistletoemiggins · 06/12/2007 21:43

my DP moans about his ex who lets this DD(10) stay up til 1am at hers on both Friday & Sat night - incidently this weekend so am just surprised he is letting her stay up late tonight when been ill all week

its so hard trying to merge families especially when u have children of different ages

My friend's DD (my god-daughter) will be 12 next month. She goes to bed around 9 on school nights and as late as she can get away with at weekends but probably around 10pm.

I would say 10pm was too late a) for a 10yo on a school night b)for a child that was too ill for school

fourboys · 06/12/2007 21:50

My 10yr old is in bed by 8.30.... but if we were visiting granparents I would not put a time on bedtime it would just be when we got home.

mistletoemiggins · 06/12/2007 21:53

but fourboys would u not feel different if ur DC had been off school ill?

plus DP's DD sees her grandparents eveyr day as Nan takes her & picks up from school AND when off sick, stays with Nan so not like they dont see her
