I'm livid.....

My youngest son has covid. It transpired that a fellow class mate said his whole family had covid but he didn't have to isolate (he doesn't as he's under 18)

He then proceeded to laugh and joke that he would give them all covid by coughing on them. He coughed repeatedly on my youngest (year 11) and now, he's gone down with covid. We are a CEV household and my elderly mother took them all out yesterday. She's also CEV.

I'm furious. My son wears a mask, he avoids people because he knows the risks at home. For this classmate to laugh at him and purposely cough on him knowing his whole family were covid positive is disgusting.

I am so mad I want to report this as assault. If the young person had been over 18 it may well be classed as assault. Aaaagghhhh .

I would speak to the school

Gizlotsmum · 27/09/2021 18:20

He was out of order but due to the new isolation (or lack of ) rules I think it is inevitable that every child who attends school will catch covid. My daughter has now had 4 close contacts test positive over 6 days and still doesn’t need to isolate by the rules…

RainbowBriteUk · 27/09/2021 18:20

What an absolute bastard. Definitely report to the school and advice you will also be reporting to the police.

*advise

Stovetopespresso · 27/09/2021 18:30

so stupid! yanabu obviously

LtDansLegs · 27/09/2021 18:32

Sounds like the boy is a little s**t and I would perhaps speak to school, but you'll be unable to actually prove it came from this child so there's no case for the police / school to actually deal with - it could be argued your child got COVID from someone or somewhere else.

amillionmenonmars · 27/09/2021 18:33

Sadly a very vocal group of parents called for an end to restrictions in schools. No bubble, no masks, no keeping kids at home if they have covid in the family.

I am so sorry that you now have to deal with the consequences of that.

It's so wrong.

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 27/09/2021 18:33

It sounds like he's a bit of a twat but he'd have been touching all surfaces etc.
It was bound to happen Imo

BananaPB · 27/09/2021 18:36

Our school send a message out saying that during the pandemic, coughing on someone purposely would be treated very seriously

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 27/09/2021 18:58

So how old is this kid? I'm in Scotland so not sure of the ages of 'year 11' 15? !6? If he is 16, he could be charged, couldn't he?

Saz12 · 27/09/2021 19:06

I think year 11 is S3, so most will be 15 years old. The school should absolutely be informed and deal with it very harshly. Coughing over other people is gross anyway, doing it just now is awful.

They are 15+. Some of them will be 16 by now but all will be 16 by September 2022.

This under 18 rule is a joke, my year 11 kid said his friends all tested positive after their families had it. Now my son has it, my little one goes to school with a very vulnerable child and all of this is very unfair on those families that have to live with full on anxiety.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/09/2021 19:12

Report it if you can.

He sounds a right dick.

User5827372728 · 27/09/2021 19:14

I would be on the phone to the school ASAP.
Did other kids witness this! If so name them
And ask them to write statements! Get your kid to write a statement and email it in.

What has the school done to safeguard the kids from this idiot Child?

How will they punish him?

I hope you’re all ok

beautifullymad · 27/09/2021 19:17

I've ordered Pcr tests for the whole family.

What a mess.

I have emailed the school. But as the child is obeying government guidance by attending school I'm not sure what they can do.
Shit poor guidelines for under 18's. If a family member has a positive pcr the whole family should isolate. I wouldn't dream of sending any child in if I had covid.

It's just a 'cold' to many who don't seem to understand CEV and elderly can get extremely poorly. Sadly we've lost family to covid so my son understands all too well the risk.
Thank you all for your kind words.

The kid is clearly not brought up right if he thought this acceptable.
Report to both the school and the police.
He needs to learn actions have consequences.

Yes it was witnessed. I'm pretty sure the whole class will be off this week if they have been maskless and coughed over by a contagious student.

I expect many other parents will be contacting school today/tomorrow.

What was the teacher doing when this kid was coughing over the class?

TonyChestnut · 27/09/2021 19:22

According to the CPS, coughs directed as a threat at other key workers or members of the public could be charged as common assault. You don't need to prove that the cough was the cause of the infection, only that the cougher did what your son claims.

If you report it to the police they probably won't prosecute but might have a quiet word with the little shit.

Rosebel · 27/09/2021 19:25

What can school do? Unless you can 100% prove this child gave it to your son it could be argued he could have got it from anyone at any time.
Obviously this kid is a little shit and at 15 should bloody know better but unfortunately you won't be able to prove it was him (even though it's highly likely).
Hope you're all okay.

HugeAckmansWife · 27/09/2021 19:26

user the teacher was probably teaching, or if it was at lunchtime prepping for the afternoon lesson, or, God forbid, having a wee or actual lunch. What do you think a teacher can do anyway at that exact point if the kid is on the other side of the classroom? We're not actually ninjas.

Mrschristmasqueen · 27/09/2021 19:28

The age of criminal responsibility is 10 so if it's a crime then he can be dealt with for it. I would absolutely report this. And I hope your family are OK Flowers

GreenClock · 27/09/2021 19:33

Sickening behaviour. I hope the headteacher has a serious conversation with him and his parent/guardian. He should be suspended for this imo.

Pissoi · 27/09/2021 19:34

You've absolutely no way of knowing your son contracted covid from this boy.
