AIBU?

AIBU to think there's more to the petrol "crisis" than meets the eye?

AIBU to think there's something very weird going on with the fuel "shortages"!
Big caveat- I'm not a conspiracy theorist but it's so bad where we are (Just inside M25) that many people I know won't be able to get to work this week. Garages have queues which are blocking all main routes and they're not even open! Is this a novel way of ensuring that we all "STAY AT HOME" ?!

The priming is giving you the frighteners over shortages

I'm quaking in my boots at the very thought of the widely predicted Great Turkey Shortage.

The problem with conspiracy theories people never think logically about what there saying and how you would pull off such a plan and know for definite the outcome.

Also in this case what possible benefit to a government is a population that doesn’t leave the house. Even in communist countries at the height of the Cold War the populations left there houses.

Well with the great reset by world economic forum they have many governments already on board with their vision, you hear politicians around the world using the term already even Prince Charles

But again your ao blind to it you cant even see it happening now. Literally open your mind that anything is possible!

@NorthbyNorthwest22

I have been watching similar threads for a while now, not commenting because i know the reaction i will get.
I will tell you what i see and you have the choice to take it on board or not.
My partner and I (me former) are civil servants. My partner worked for many years in the prime ministers office, mostly under a labour government.
First point is, and this goes for all similar threads... All governments are the same. Labour would not have handled any of the current issues we have any differently. They all answer to the same higher authority. Im not a conspiracy theorist, Iv seen how things work up close and personal.
Second... There is no petrol crisis, shortage etc. The dont panic message was put out deliberately to make you panic. They want to use up all the petrol that has amassed from lockdowns as petrol has a shelf life like most other things.
Third... There will be shortages of other things. Food mostly. And soon! While i dont advocate panic buying you should always have enough put by to get you through a difficult few weeks. The lockdowns served as a test run. Learn from it. Buy seeds. You will need them.
Fourth... The economy has already collapsed. We are currently printing money at a ridiculous rate to keep things going a little longer while they prime you for whats coming. The same is happening all over the world. Listen to the repeated phrases all world governments are using.

The take away is this. I dont care if you believe me or not. The government cares even less. Iv seen whats coming for years and there is nothing i or anyone else can do about it other than to be in the best position possible when it does.

I think the detail about using up petrol stocks which are getting old and didn't get used during lockdown is very believable. Generating bubbles of panic to make the population dépendant and compliant to the government is also deliberate. Naomi Kline's Shock doctrine talks about this disaster capitalism approach to bringing in rapid change which otherwise would take too long. It's a tool for bypassing normal democratic process.

I think NorthByNorthWest 's point about using up petrol stocks which are getting old and didn't get used during lockdown is very believable.

Generating bubbles of panic to make the population dependent on the government and compliant is also deliberate.

Naomi Kline's Shock doctrine talks about this disaster capitalism approach to bringing in rapid change which otherwise would take too long. It's a tool which has been used successfully for bypassing normal democratic process and implementing big policy changes.

To add to the 'conspiracy' ( not sure why some ideas as are labeled and discredited by this word) why are North's posts being withheld by mumsnet ? Hmm

People dont see it because they dont want to believe their own government would act in such a way. The current level of cognitive dissidence is astounding!
My withheld comment has a link to a video that shows amongst other things, how disaster capitalism is being used right now to reset the current financial system.

Do as your told and we can all go back to normal...

@Karenaki

A colleague today told me that petrol has an expiry date, and because of under consumption during lockdown, “they’ve” got loads about to go out of date and “they” have to sell it. So leaked the shortage to cause panic buying…. 🙄

That “fact” doing the rounds on conspiracy sites but elsewhere it appears the target/average time for crude oil arriving at refinery to the petrol element of it being on the forecourt is a month or less….so given last UK lockdown finished a while back I’m (still) sceptical of that claim.

Well daily mail now running an article saying the government are investigating who leaked stuff when there was no fuel crisis and it might be remainers doing it.

Will people who were part of the panic of refuse to believe it was a hyped up now admit they were wrong

In the Mail? Sounds very much pot calling kettle…

They were one of the first outlets to carry banner headlines on the potential of a shortage on Thursday this unraveled so they are just as guilty of shouting “fire” as anybody else…and then the proceeded to perpetuate the crisis they had a large part in creating….

And as for a source I thought fingers had already been pointed at one of the Haulage Associations (or a spokesman thereof)…

The Daily Mail were a large part of the panic themselves!
