What stupid things do you do that no one else knows about?

I used to be a party animal. LOVED clubbing every weekend (multiple times a week as a student), would dance for hours and laugh and laugh and laugh.

Tonight I am sitting in my cuddle chair putting chewits down my bra to warm them up before I eat them.
I’m home alone.

How life has changed.

Make me feel better, what weird stuff do you do that no one else knows about?!

If I see a cuddly toy alone on a shelf it doesn't belong on in a supermarket... I pick it up and put it back with all the other cuddly toys so it doesn't feel lonely.

When lying in bed I make sure my arms are tucked up under the duvet, my reason being that I was told a scary story about a lady who's dog licked her hand at night. One night she had her hand licked but it was from an unknown person under the bed and her dog was found next morning in the bathroom .

LoveFall · 02/10/2021 00:17

In the morning when DH has already got up, the dog likes to come up on the bed for a cuddle. I scratch his ears and his tummy while saying stupid little things whispered in his ear. You're the bestest boy etc. I am sure he talks back as he makes a little soft sound in this throat.

He has me well and truly trained.

re lights in hotel rooms, the smoke detectors that flash drive me up the wall, I take tape with me as well

SwitcherMum · 02/10/2021 12:41

When I'm driving on my own and see a dead animal on the side of the road I say out loud things like:
"Rest in peace Mr Badger. I hope you had a good life. Your family will miss you" Blush

(As an aside, after my father died and I was struggling with grief I used to cry whenever I saw anything dead on the road!)

I bring a sleep mask with me. I can't stand small lights or lights flashing in a hotel room.

@pippapoo62 OMG I remember that story…..

…. HUMANS CAN LICK TOO!

Sleep tight, everyone!

Ddot · 02/10/2021 22:30

🙀

TheVolturi · 02/10/2021 22:36

I salute solitary magpies, pinch myself, and touch something black (to send it back!!?)
I tuck my arms in the sides of my pj bottoms to go to sleep, it sort of jams them against my sides, I can't sleep otherwise!

freshFortunes · 02/10/2021 23:11

@KingdomScrolls I dated someone who did this with Alexa. When I queried it he very seriously informed me that he wanted to be polite to stay on Alexa's good side so that eventually, after the uprising, Alexa would hopefully be kind to him. We didn't date for much longer after that.

Bortles · 02/10/2021 23:45

Have a code word and plans should we ever experience a home invasion. Totally bonkers and the result of watching true crime and living somewhere remote.

poonypoony · 03/10/2021 00:01

When going to sleep I pretend I'm on a hospital ward and my friends are around me, while I lay ill in bed, arguing over who put on me/expected too much of me (favours, help, friends being needy) the most for me to be in hospital. I even put hospital ward background noise or a heart monitor (you tube!) On my phone/earplugs .
When I'm in the back seat of the car i imagine there is a huge magnet on the back of the car and as cars go by they are stuck to the back of our car, forming one long train of cars.
I weave my eyes in and out of the lines in the middle of the road while H is driving
I google random actors from films to see if they are still alive/look like now (if old film). I use findagrave to look at their grave if they are deceased
I talk to myself about anything and everything
When going to sleep, I used to pretend I was sleeping in a first class bed, upper class BA. The hospital scenario has since taken that over.

Riddo · 03/10/2021 06:07

I always use matching pegs and try to coordinate the colour with the garment. DS has black boxers with coloured waist bands. They have to be hung on the line in rainbow order.

I talk to myself all the time, usually nagging about something which I'm procrastinating about. I'm much meaner to myself than I am to anyone else.

TomPinch · 03/10/2021 06:34

This is really weird and geeky.

If I think of Birmingham, for any reason, I have to immediately name the 10 parliamentary constituencies in the city or I will never be able to return to the UK, where I grew up and miss hugely.

Sutton Coldfield, Erdington, Perry Barr, Northfield, Edgbaston, Selly Oak, Hall Green, Ladywood, Hodge Hill, Yardley.

I'm not from Birmingham. I'm from London. I've never lived in Birmingham or had any association with the city.

Itstheprinciple · 03/10/2021 06:43

I've recently decided one of our cats is French. I now say his name in a really exaggerated French accent and even say hello and ask him how he is in French. I don't know why this started, but he doesn't seem to mind.

KingdomScrolls · 03/10/2021 08:44

@freshFortunes wow! I just do it as habit, it feels weird to not say please and thank you and to model good manners to my two year old, I am not in fear of a robot uprising 😁

moofolk · 03/10/2021 21:58
@ShinyMe - that's brilliant! Love a bit of Tom Jones.

My cat meows a lot. I meow back. This goes on for a long long time. Neighbours must think I'm nuts.

I can't sleep unless I have a bit of quilt scrunched up in front of my face and I hate my knee's touching each other so I have to tuck the quilt between my legs. My quilt looks a mess the minute I get in the bed.

Mars Bars - eat the chocolate off first, then the toffee. So am left with a disgusting looking slug. I can't eat them normally so never eat them in public.
This is why I have a leg pillow

Ddot · 04/10/2021 06:23

I buy tinned food, my cupboard is bursting, very rarely eat tinned stuff but just incase of armageddon.
Came in handy over lockdown.
My mam was the same.

andmoreagain · 04/10/2021 20:09

Our last dog had a very distinctive voice. She passed away 2 years ago and we now have an amazing rescue but I can't quite bring myself to give her a voice yet. I think it made it harder last time. Anyone else had this? I have her voice in my head but haven't quite been able to voice it.....

neverornow · 04/10/2021 21:47

This is the best thread ever!!!

Skinnyankles · 04/10/2021 22:00

I am a grown up capable senior professional woman.

However, when I'm at home, I aways eat with plastic/knives/spoons - like the kids ones from IKEA. The metal ones, if they touch my teeth - make me shudder (like nails on a chalkboard).

I obviously tolerate metal cutlery in restaurants and dinner parties Blush

TackyJewellery · 04/10/2021 22:32

You know how when you open Netflix or power up the PS5 and it plays a short little ‘sting’. It’s not even long enough to be a tune but it’s a couple of notes, like Netflix’s ‘da dummmmm’?

Well, each of our cats has their own unique musical, Netflix style ‘sting’ and I sing it to their name every time I see them throughout the day.

Ddot · 05/10/2021 06:14

I keep rope in my bedroom cupboard, thought being, incase of fire I can put my fur baby in a pillow case and lower her out the window to a neighbour. Me on the other hand, will probably just break my legs on the jump 🙀 bit obsessed with my cat.

Saggingninja · 05/10/2021 09:32

@Nayday

I talk for the dog as if she's speaking to me - and she has an American accent.

I have to stop myself from doing it when we have visitors.

Leaving the country now I've admitted how weird I am!

Grin Grin

I think my cat is getting tired of my singing: 'What's new Pussycat - whoaa whoaa' whenever he comes in. Might be why he wants to go straight back out . . .

ArrrMeHearties · 05/10/2021 14:03

I used to love crushing up bovril/oxon cubes in a wee bowl to eat. Also loved cuppa soup dry. Haven't done it in years but will crumble the stock cubes so I end up with some on my fingers to have
