Surely the correct wording though would be “women and trans men”, given that trans women don’t have the biology needed to menstruate. Which would exclude trans women, and highlight that they aren’t, in fact, women by virtue of biology, not bigotry.

We’re not allowed to use the word woman anymore, unless it’s inclusive of men.

YADNBU. I can't vote because I'm on the app but this is ludicrous and offensive. There was a movement against the traditional 1940s medics who referred to patients as the bits of the anatomy they were treating. Quite rightly because such language stops medics seeing patients as human. It's back now but only for women.

Glad you have also emailed, and really hope that many of the people on this thread who are similarly appalled at this article also take the time to email their thoughts too. It really is demeaning and I just don't know how any editor could have thought "bodies with vaginas" would EVER be ok to print.

They can use women and other bodies with vaginas.
I would be ok with it.
I am a woman and I will always be.
I have no issue with anyone who wants to transition into a woman because that is who they are in the inside. Or into a man. But I am tired of this language debate, to be honest.

Why, exactly, is objecting to the attitude that 'woman' is some kind of dirty word, to be redacted at every turn, or to find offensive the reduction of human beings to mere anatomy, bodily functions and the fact that we are 'bleeders', 'trans phobic?'

There are no woman trapped in men's bodies. There are no men trapped in women's bodies.

There ARE people who feel like they have some kind of disconnect between their physical body and their inner self, but how can they know they are 'really' female (or vice versa) given that they have never been that thing, and therefore can never know what it is like to BE male or female?

What you are talking about is a belief system, not fact.
Scientific fact states that men reside in male bodes, and females reside in female bodies.
I believe in provable, scientific, immutable, unchangeable human sex.
Not in a quasi religious system of self identification.

I’m biologically female with a vagina. I’m categorically NOT a woman. I’m also not a transman. I’m nonbinary, always have been (over 40 years now, so a bloody long “phase”).
We are so much more than our bodies (have a look at society, biological differences explain almost none of the societal differences).

They can fuck right off and if they want to play that game we should all play along and call everyone a penis owner or a vagina owner there are no other descriptions, that'll render self ID completely and utterly redundant over night.

Honestly I find it quite frightening. It's exactly how the taliban think of women: bodies with vaginas. Not humans. Just bodies.
