Come home from school run to someone parked on my private parking.

I've blocked them in as there's nowhere else for me to park and left a note to say I next plan to move my car tomorrow AM.

Cheeky fucker hasn't returned yet.

I use chestnut purée to make a very delicious soup 😋

MobilityCat · 25/09/2021 13:29

Law is strange on this you can't damage their vehicle, remove their vehicle etc

Snog · 25/09/2021 13:36

@MobilityCat what can you do then?

Gooseberrypies · 25/09/2021 14:17

Well obviously you cannot damage someone else’s property legally but you can remove their vehicle. If it’s on private property you can have it towed.
MobilityCat · 25/09/2021 14:23

Apparently not. If you were to pursue a civil case for trespassing, the courts have the jurisdiction to remove the car from the driveway. Your solicitor would be able to get the civil court's permission to find out the legal owner of the vehicle involved, and a judge would have to make its removal an order of the court.

No, you’re wrong. As long as a written warning with a towing date is given (placed on the vehicle would be fine), a vehicle parked on private land can be towed away.

@pinkyredrose

You can speak to someone at your door using the smartphone app too

Shock You mean you can speak to someone at your door even when you're not in!?

Yes, exactly. There is a speaker and a microphone built into the doorbell unit and using the app, you see them and talk to them through your phone.
Bananarama21 · 25/09/2021 15:06

Place marking for the outcome.

Happy 3rd Birthday to your child but honestly OP, you are acting selfish not coming back.

Proli gonna say you was blowing up balloons & wrapping gifts or some other non important stuff Sad

Wow! I'm so going to get one!

liddlelambsydivey · 25/09/2021 15:22

In cases such as this, I have to wonder if someone is finding amusement in keeping people hanging on for an update. Just stir them up, then sit back and watch as they display annoyance, frustration, and disappointment. Grin

No-one is owed an update, of course, but why start the thread and continue posting, only to leave at the most tantalising moment? Just makes me wonder, when it's so abrupt...

Either that or the outcome was too much of a boring let-down, e.g. the CF parker was released promptly and quietly, with nothing more to report.

Redsquirrel5 · 25/09/2021 15:31

We don't use our front door much and only strangers and white van people come to it. Our side door is a stable door with 9glass panels
in the top so not necessary but great idea for some houses and I didn’t know it was a thing either.

Was watching Poirot earlier hope she didn’t open the door.
I think she will come back later.

Happy Birthday to small child 🎂🎈🎈🎈🎈🧸

They are AMAZING! Best thing I've ever bought. A little tip - the Ring 2 is not much different to the Ring 3 and is a fair bit cheaper Wink
Snog · 25/09/2021 16:16

Casually Looking up the law on the internet suggests the police have zero authority when someone parks on your drive as it's not a criminal offence and comes under the civil law of trespass.

You are advised not to tow the car away as if it is damaged you are liable.

You are not allowed to damage the vehicle.

If you block their car in then YOU are committing an offence.

Only if it is abandoned for a long period of time does it seem that you can do anything about it.

So clearly CFs can park on any drive they like whenever it suits them. Once they all realise it will be mayhem.

BorderlineHappy · 25/09/2021 16:23

Let's face it, parking in front of a car to block them in is hardly the event of the millennium is it.

@daisychain01 this is MN,they are all on tenderhooks as we speak.

GemmaRuby · 25/09/2021 16:33

I still have faith that OP is going to come back with a good update.

ApolloandDaphne · 25/09/2021 16:40

Well that was a disappointing read.

Cerebelle · 25/09/2021 16:45

Sad Clearly the neighbours posse of visitors have done OP in and we will never get an update.

Just make sure you have a good wifi signal at your door and that the existing doorbell has low voltage wiring to keep the battery in the ring unit charged.

I have the Ring 3 and it's been really reliable.

Nope, I'm with you Grin
Mrgrinch · 25/09/2021 17:33

I wouldn't bother speaking, you've told them via note that you'll be moving in the morning.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 25/09/2021 17:37

@FuzzyPuffling

Badly done, Emma. This is a phrase I often use and is perfect for this situation.
Me too. I just melt when G.Paltrow & J.Northam are together in that film.
Bobsyer · 25/09/2021 17:40

I need an explosive update please.

linsey2581 · 25/09/2021 17:51
