Whilst everyone seems to be discussing how terrible it is for middle aged white women, my first thought upon clicking the link was, 'not another tragic film about black people '.
Don't get me wrong, women have issues with representation in films but I sometimes wonder what black people actually think about films themselves. When I look at it relatively few films are about black people having a regular, or good time. Mostly it's about them involved in some tragedy, violence or how bad it is to be black. This is especially true where black people make up a large or majority cast. I'm sure there should be some equivalent Bechdel test for this!
I guess for a form that's majority women the discussion would naturally go one way but is interesting.
