Ridiculous name for baby

My step son and gf have recently called their newborn a really awful pretentious name. I know it’s their choice but neither me nor my husband can bring ourselves to say it in a sentence. Every time we talk about him we say ‘the baby’ or the ‘little one’. We have been very diplomatic and said things like ‘ oh that’s unusual’ but they have started to notice we don’t use his name in conversation and it’s becoming tense.

Any advice on how to move forward?

I do feel for you OP. That name is just a massive NO! Poor child. I do like the name Storm. The parents are going to have to get used to that I am afraid. I didn't like my nephew's name, so referred to him by his initials and it stuck! He is 20 now and every single person calls him by his initials and very rarely by his full name. Good luck!

Assuming this is real... yea it's terrible, but what can you do? Just crack on and use it.

I thought registrars were now able to stop people giving their children ridiculous names like this in the UK? Storm wouldn't be too bad on its own but stormy water cloud is just cruel and will cause endless embarrassment for the poor child.

Someone I know called her baby Bodhi Rain because her dead sister came to her in a dream and told her to. She lives in a rough area full of kids called Hayden, Jayden etc feel so sorry for him!

I much prefer Bodhi to those other names!

I teach a retro and a vibe usual names dp happen my nephew has an usual name aswell. Each to their own.

How to move forward - tell them you think it's a ridiculous name for a baby and it's ok for them but they won't have to be called it for the rest of their lives.

Ask your son how he'd have like it if you'd called him Wolfy- Dove Rabbit because you were lone wolves then Dove because of the harmony you felt with his dad and then rabbit because you were at it like rabbits.
