I know women get bashed a lot and there are such high standards to live up to thanks to social media, the media and TV so I wanted to start a thread so we can be positive.

Every time Dr Phillipa is on This Morning I always think she is stunning and seems like a lovely, caring person.

Stacey dooley

MorrisZapp · 23/09/2021 09:07

@bluebell34567

a different one then others mentioned, Jane McDonald. She is fun.
Did you see the bit on her cruise show when the Japanese tourists thought she was the actress from The Killing?

Omg I've never laughed so much 😂 Anyone who jumps on the bed when they go on holiday is a banger in my book.

NigelSlatersXmasTaters · 23/09/2021 09:09

I'm assuming Emma Willis is on something at the moment because I've never heard her mentioned on these threads, but a multi millionaire former model who presents shows that rely on vulnerable people craving fame and going to extremes to achieve it is hardly "girl next door genuine".

I don't get it. Or is it just because she started the thread and everyone then follows suit? Wink

ladybrunton · 23/09/2021 09:11

I'm not saying who, but I've met a couple of the people mentioned on this thread through work, and they are nothing like their tv persona!

I would say Louise Minchin, as she seems like a genuinely nice person and I admire her athletic prowess and persistence. But I've never met her. She might be horrible!

mocktail · 23/09/2021 09:13

I love Monica Galetti, Kirsty Wark, Karen Brady, Jacinda Ardern, Michelle Obama... All strong, successful women in the public eye. Not sure whether they meet your brief of attractive/beautiful inside and out.

Tiramiwho · 23/09/2021 09:19

I have had a woman crush for donkey's years on Mariella Frostrup, she's the complete package and I'm straight..😉
Also: Vicky McClure, Emily Blunt, Jodie Comer, Denise Walsh, Sandi Toksvig, Clare Balding, Lucrezia, Millarini.
One of the women repeatedly mentioned here leaves me cold, both in Acting and looks..Confused

Prue Leith or Sandi Toksvig.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 23/09/2021 09:35

I've adored Kristen Scott-Thomas since my teens, and I love Keely Hawes too. I'd like Lauren Laverne and Claudia Winkleman to be my mates and go drinking with me, and I'd like to discuss history with Ella Al-Shamahi and Suzannah Lipscomb. Oh, and theatre with Stephanie Cole and Sheila Hancock.

Actually there's loads of women I find inspirational and wish I knew IRL.

billysboy · 23/09/2021 09:38

Disgraceful sacking Sue Angry
ThinWomansBrain · 23/09/2021 09:53

I listen to radio more than I watch TV - I love the voices of Mariella Frostrup & Cerys Matthews.

Could listen to either of them read out the phone book (do you still get phone books?)
I did actually listen to a Cerys Mattews program about Rugby once.

Innovationstandard · 23/09/2021 09:55

I have a crush on Emma Raducanu but I'm old enough to be her mother so that makes me feel sleazy

Me too! 🤣

EggSheeran · 23/09/2021 10:10

DarlingFell · 23/09/2021 10:27

@NigelSlatersXmasTaters

It's so funny how people are influenced by what's on tv currently. And previous posts.

Oti would barely have got a mention in May or June but now she gets loads. Not one person has said Nicola Walker but on a previous thread at peak Last Tango she was the leading MN fave Grin

Same for Sarah Lancashire.

That’s true, I’m surprised Nicola Walker hasn’t been mentioned loads more, she’s wonderful but I guess not on tv right now..
