I know women get bashed a lot and there are such high standards to live up to thanks to social media, the media and TV so I wanted to start a thread so we can be positive.

Every time Dr Phillipa is on This Morning I always think she is stunning and seems like a lovely, caring person.

@KellyJonesLeatherTrousers

The Teddy Bear Ladies off The Repair Shop!
I can't get on with them at all, and I don't know why! We have a long running family joke that they are villains and that our teddy bear is terrified of them and how they gleefully behead poor teddies and shove their arms up in their guts and pluck out their eyes, whilst smiling and looking sweet.

On the other hand, I adore Suzi Fletcher. She is so kind and nice and I love her. Her face is always so kind and her smiles seem really genuine.

There's a few slebs named on this thread that I've thought 'really?'. Grin

I like

Emma Willis
Cat Deeley
Davina McCall
Georgia Tennant

Oti Mabusi

ReeseWitherfork · 23/09/2021 07:33

I'm always really drawn to Dawn O'Porter. Reckon I'd be entertained watching her write a shopping list.

hangrylady · 23/09/2021 07:38

Vicky McClure. She's great

LuckyAmy1986 · 23/09/2021 07:39

Accidentgirlfriend · 23/09/2021 07:43

Kate Garraway seems lovely and you just want to give her a cuddle for all she’s been through lately

MojoJojo71 · 23/09/2021 07:46

@EmeraldRaine I love Kathy Burke too, wonderful, strong, couldn’t give a fuck, she’s my kind of woman.

I’d love to get to know Victoria Coren-Mitchell. I often wonder while I’m watching Only connect what it would be like to to go round her house for dinner.

HailAdrian · 23/09/2021 07:49

Can't believe no one has said Katie Hopkins .

Emma Willis is really nice, isn't she? That's good enough for me.

Past or present.
Past Esther Rantzen for starting child-line supports for DC.
Present. Michelle Obama. Lady Gaga.

Louise Michin from BBC breakfast
Agree. Not commenting on any of the "outside" looks but if lovely Dan who is the loveliest human on the planet holds her up as a Good Person, then she is.

I realise that you intended this thread to be positive, but for me it's anything but. Here we are in 2021 and we are judging women we have most likely never met on how pretty they are and how lovely they are "inside" whatever that means.
So here are a few people that I find inspirational. No idea if they are pretty or are lovely inside.
Sarah Gilbert who started to develop a vaccine 2 weeks after first hearing about a new illness.
Lucy Worsley for her infectious descriptions of history and historical characters, for inspiring people to be interested in history.
Angela Merkel
Michelle Obama
Greta Thunberg
...

Bremusa · 23/09/2021 08:03

Katie Piper. Just an extraordinary woman.

I'd agree with all of those, and I'd add Ursula Von Der Leyen as well. Amazing women.
lazylinguist · 23/09/2021 08:05

These people are actors and presenters. It is their job to present a tv persona or a completely different character. Acting lovely doesn't mean they are. You really don't know what they are like on the inside.

lollipoprainbow · 23/09/2021 08:05

@DollyDinkle urgh really ??

OverByYer · 23/09/2021 08:07

Mel and Sue

puffylovett · 23/09/2021 08:08

Oh I really like Angela Scanlon.

And I totally have a thing for Diane Keaton.

I see what you're doing here, but it's really important that women (and crucially, young girls) have role models outside of those Doing Really Important Stuff. You don't have to be a world-leasing expert in a particular field or run a country to be worthy. This thread simply highlights some of the wonderful women who are regularly in the public eye who are showcasing intelligence and humour and kindness and tenacity and charismatic and talent. I don't see how that isn't positive.
ReeseWitherfork · 23/09/2021 08:10
