A Vodafone door to door salesman was doing the rounds on our road earlier with the latest offers that aren't available online apparently... anyway he left his business card and when I saw his name I had to LOL as it was Robin Crowe! His family must love bird names Grin

I work with a Liz Taylor! And I also have a cousin called Jenny Taylor Blush

I've met loads of people with terrible or funny names. One of my favourites is Bernhard Wanko.

I was once tasked to call and check if there was a prankster placing orders, there wasn't. BJ in the Oral Department was actually a Bridget Job. (hello Bridget if you're reading!)

Clevs · 23/09/2021 16:07

A doctor called Dr Pawley.

Someone that was called Michael Hunt and insisted that I didn't call him Mike.

An ex colleague whose surname was Forsdick.

brokenbiscuitsx · 23/09/2021 16:10

A past colleague called Nicholas Muff

First I just giggled at the surname then when I said the whole name together I realised just how funny it is. The poor man, didn’t his parents realise!

Dozycuntlaters · 23/09/2021 16:17

My mums avon lady when we were kids was Nora Willy - but then she changed it to Wylie!

MrsToothyBitch · 23/09/2021 16:44

My old dentist was Dr. Payne.
Teaching student Miss Pleasant.
Another teaching student who sensibly changed their name from Dick.
I work with an army man called Fright- sadly not a Major.
We've dealt with a kid called Wanqing- pronounced as you would imagine.

I also went to school with:
Jo Kingman
Felicity "Flick" Inker
Jackie Chan,
Boadicea Rose
Vienna Butt
Ben Raper
E Clare
Many Chinese and Korean pupils took an English name. We had a Sinbad, for example. As I was leaving the school, my housemistress was corresponding with an incoming pupil from China, suggesting she might choose an English name; she was called YoYo.

As customers:
Mrs Christmas,
Mr & Mrs Kitkat,
Miss Fancy
Miss Smellie

I also know someone with the maiden name of Vile. Had a rather alliterative name overall and people thought it was a drag queen name or a joke!

I also came across the 30s & 40s European actor: Rudolf Wanka.

GrandTheftWalrus · 23/09/2021 16:47

There was a contestant on masterchef Australia called Yoyo

Iamnotminterested · 23/09/2021 16:51

At the hospital where I trained there was a Mr. Payne and a Dr. De'ath, both working in the dental department.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 23/09/2021 17:04

My primary school teacher was Mrs Pratt.

(And we lived near Pratts Bottom)

BigOneLittleOne · 23/09/2021 17:05

I actually have a name that matches my profession. In the same vain as being called Mrs Tokyo and teaching Japanese for a living.

nokidshere · 23/09/2021 17:20

I find it hard to believe that so many people claim to know someone called Mike hunt. There are only 179 people registered with that name in the whole of the US.

I've only known a couple of odd names. One was a man who booked into my training session called Laurie Driver, and the other a woman called Sue Gotobed.

olbndanszombie · 23/09/2021 17:28

I went to school with a Theresa Green who’s married name was brown!
My sil married Dave Davis.
My friend married a chap whose name was Jon Oscar Gaunt and his post used to come addressed to Jon O Gaunt!

brokenbiscuitsx · 23/09/2021 17:31
