To think Silent Witness is a pile of pants?

It seems to be more about detective work than forensic pathology, and all so far fetched .
Then the long lingering close ups, the clumsy plots and stilted dialogue.. it’s painful.

Am watching the latest series, this weeks double episode seems to be particularly shit, it's just so bloody dull and the extra actors seem pretty wooden.....I feel like I've committed now though have to se it through 😬

I still love it, but you have to just not take it too seriously. All the crime-solving is a bit ludicrous really but it’s still a guilty pleasure of mine.

I've watched it for years but think this latest series is particularly bad. The karaoke was toe curling. I miss Clarissa as well.

It’s awful. DH likes it so I’ve watched a few and it’s excruciating. The complete absence of the police investigating, the face that Emilia’s team always somehow investigates and solves everything. The fact Jack looks like Data from Star Trek with his weird smooth face and wig like hair.

We treat it as a comedy in our house; we roar with laughter throughout! That karaoke scene was as excruciatingly funny as anything in The Office. The stilted acting, the pauses, the wistful looks, the consciously pc characters and designer furniture porn! It is a woke spoof of a spoof!

I think they’ve got the Holby City scriptwriters in now. It’s so ludicrous and far fetched. Holby went downhill when they started to focus on the improbable relationships rather than a decent plot. And now Silent Witness is turning into a rather weird soap.

I used to love it but it's got progressively more and more ridiculous.

Still can't stop watching it though for some reason!

I had to check it hadn’t recorded Holby City last week. About the first 5-10 minutes were in some hospital with no mention of any of the main characters….
…. Don’t even get me started on Nikki gazing pensively into the distance considering who knows what about 10 times an hour.

Plus is Jack gay or not? Wasn’t there an entire episode dedicated to Jack being gay? Now they seem to be hinting at romantic feelings between him and Nikki.

I realise I sound over invested in this.

It's too silly and Jack being dragged about everywhere and solving all the crime/catching all the bad guys is just stupid.

Oh god Nikki's wistful looks.

And what happened to her American husband? Are we just never to mention him again? Is he in the freezer in the lab?!

Amanda Burton's character used to do many a wistful look back in the day, right after she'd said 'the IRA killed my daddy...'. She did that every other episode.

YES! My parents raved about it, and DH and I plodded through most of the first episode before giving up, about four minutes from the end.

Example dialogue:

"Kevin, as my younger brother by two years, I know you are concerned that I am trying to get my hands on the house of our elderly parents, Peter and Marge. However, I am only worried about how they will cope now that our mother has been diagnosed with dementia by her GP, Dr Basil Exposition." I

Ignore me! I'm thinking of something else, can't remember what, but it was also shit.

The new character is good, the archaeology/forensicy person, and she brings the standard of acting right up. Love her gran too.
What was that karaoke all about? So cringe.
I like Emilia Fox and her wardrobe's lovely but her acting seems terribly wooden this series

That karaoke was the most awkward thing I've ever seen. I had to watch behind a pillow and my jaw aches from gritting my teeth 😬

We turned over at that point. I think that's finished it for us.

Last season wasn't that great either.

it's really, bizarrely cringey! Just awful

I miss the banter between Clarissa and Jack. Nikki always bobs up n down I like her shoes clicking on the floor when she walks.

I haven't watched it for a few years now. It was really good about 10 years ago, when it was Niki, Harry and Leo. There were some really good episodes, one about a school shooting particularly memorable.
But now its got ridiculous - Niki running around in high heels being a detective and being kidnapped all the time. She should just be sat in the lab all the time.

I admit I enjoy it, even though I have to suspend my disbelief that a pathologist would actually get involved to the extent that Emelia Fox and her colleagues do!

you know those overly long series where they suddenly bring back a random character thar died/left decades previously?
It would be a gazillion times better if Amanda Burton came back.
