Bed bugs 😫 pic

AIBU to burn my flat down 😐😑

Both kids come up on spots Monday. Assumed chicken pox, didn't itch and redness went down the next day.

I wash all bedding etc the same day.
Today I thought I would double check the beds.
The kids have racing car beds that are low to the floor, slates are around 3 inches for the floor.
Pulled the mattress up, saw one teenie tiny bug.. killed it.
Then saw a couple on the carpet, under the slates. I placed a white baby wipe down and a couple travelled onto it.

I'm assuming bed bugs, baby bed bugs in the pic... I've called for fumigation for Friday midday and the kids can sleep in with me tonight, I've attached a pic.

They're bedbugs aren't they? 😑😑

Indorex doesn't treat bed bugs, does it?

Roozy123 · 16/09/2021 12:07

Thanks for all your replies... I'm hoping not bed bugs but also, not sleeping and have a torch out checking everywhere just incase 😬 it's so bloody stressful.

I've just gone into the kids room... couldn't see any thing on the floor, where as yesterday these bugs (before getting the hoover) were just walking around together in and on the carpet🤢
I'm very confused still. I cancelled the fumigation and instead booked an inspection- JUST INCASE its something I can deal with without a £320 fumigation 😐..... fingers crossed but, I'm sure he will tell me bedbugs and I will cry lol.

Inspection is tomorrow morning around 10.30am- I will be updating you all lol.
Thanks for the replies through this pure stress of a time.

Those little black ones definitely aren't bed bugs btw, if that's what was all over your carpet. And it's a good thing if they're mostly gone after you vacuuming!

Roozy123 · 16/09/2021 12:57

Just went on the search!!!!! Found one... in the kids toy box at the bottom alone walking around. Have attached pic. May be blurry once uploaded.. no idea why that keeps happening 🤨

Can't you get closer? I really can't tell from that photo, but I would say NOT a bed bug.

knittingaddict · 16/09/2021 13:02

Scrap that last message. I just can't tell either way.

Roozy123 · 16/09/2021 13:06

Theyre soo quick, by the time I'm taking the pic they're off! So hard to get a close up. I haven't found any staying still.

We have had them this year. On advice from an old thread on here bought a steamer and steamed mattress, floor, bed frame every couple of weeks and checked bedside drawers etc.
They have slowly reduced in number (I mean to finding a couple) and last twice have found none.
Sellotape is good for picking them up if you see them, into a plastic bag and out the house asap.

SpamIAm · 16/09/2021 13:11

Just looks too dark to be a bed bug, plus for the size and shape they'd have to be young ones. Honestly don't think that's what you're dealing with (hurrah!).

Roozy123 · 16/09/2021 13:25

@SpamIAm now I've seen another the same size, shape and colour I'm wavering on it being bedbugs as SURELY by now i would have seen the bugger ones or a red/orange one!? Something. They're They're black and all within a mm of the same size!?

Oh god.

Can't I just run away.

It's like I'm using a potato to take the photo 😑

Looks like a bed bug image from Google. Sorry FlowersCakeWine

I'd still try Indorex first, I bet that's all the companies use. There's loads on line saying it works.

Presumably MN compresses the photo for space reasons and that decreases resolution. You could enlarge the photo, then use Preview or similar to select just the small bit round the bug, and post that. Resulting file would be much smaller and may escape compression.
Roozy123 · 16/09/2021 14:50

@MereDintofPandiculation omg if only I was capable of this 😐😂😂

Thank you, but I am USELESS with these things.
I've decided I won't upload another photo unless I find a bug tap dancing with a sign above its head naming what it is.

Sorry, but some of the images you’ve uploaded do like BBs to me.
It’s bloody horrible.
But with a good professional exterminator, and by following their instructions to the letter, you can get rid of them.

EvilPea · 16/09/2021 15:04

The person I know who had them was told to take all clothes to a dry cleaners (bet that helps spread the fuckers) and freeze all soft furnishings like toys and cushions. They also bombed their cars to be sure. They did it all at the same time to make sure.

Gatekeeper · 16/09/2021 15:08

Looks more like a black carpet beetle to me

Lauralu19 · 16/09/2021 15:32

Could it be these things? (Booklouse, photo taken from google) looks similar to me to your photo of them close up, also they can be see through/white. Also, according to a website they’re apparently known to live under carpets etc

Another photo from google, I think the shape of the photo you uploaded of two of them together. The shape looks very similar to these?

Lauralu19 · 16/09/2021 15:38

Also according to the same website they move very fast; which you also mentioned! Hope it resolves quickly for you x

Lauralu19 · 16/09/2021 15:50

Google also says they can be brown or very dark in colour/black or see through x

OneMoreStitch · 16/09/2021 16:05

I agree with others that they don't look exactly the right shape or proportions to be bedbugs, but I understand why you want to be positive. I hope the inspection goes well and you learn they aren't bedbugs!

Roozy123 · 16/09/2021 18:14

@Lauralu19 This is what the fumigation man said they looked like, when I sent him photos.

I then mentioned that the kids had been bitten and he said "hmm... maybe keep looking for bedbugs."
I think it threw him because it could just be coincidence the kids had a few bites (could have been from anything!) So, I started looking around and come across these things in their carpet. He may have assumed they 'keep' getting bitten, which is not the case.
These things could have been there weeks and I've never noticed until I went looking for something that may had bitten them... if any of that makes sense lol.

I think the photos are very similar!!

Also, I just pulled out everything from 2 storage cupboards in the kids room (so deep the other one I have holds a tumble drier) filled with clothes and arts and crafts, bags, coats, a bike! Lol... and didn't find one bug of any kind!? Both storage cupboards were the same.

Surely if they were bedbugs I would have found some in the cupboards with that many on the bedroom floor... Confused

Roozy123 · 16/09/2021 18:15

Oh... also, these booklice go where there is mold and humidity/moisture.
The kids room suffers with mold and is a continuous battle!! Even had someone out for it a few months back.
One of the bed slates had mold on. So... would make sense or am I trying to reassure and convince myself lol

OP posts:
Lauralu19 · 16/09/2021 19:07

Definitely sounds as though they could be book lice and the photos do look very similar! Fingers crossed as the website I was on said that they are fairly easy to get rid off. Did you notice if the ones you have seen had long antenna like the ones in the google photo I posted? Let us know how you get on tomorrow!
