Perfumes for inducing a vomitty rage

In response to this lovely thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/4336303-Perfumes-of-your-life?pg=4 AIBU to suggest we get some lists of perfume that send you into a head-achy verge of vomiting rage? I’ll start with one I had to sit next to for a 5 hour stretch recently - Youth Dew 🤢. Also disliked by my mother, I’m still getting flash backs now.

Also I’ll add Lulu 🤮. Someone used to wear loads of it at work. I could barely keep my breakfast down when I walked in first thing.

Tresor (autocorrect to Trevor:)) used to make magazines stink as they had a sample in every one.

The wretched pong of a musky man drenched in Joop is just about the most repulsive thing. It's always a certain kind of man too (a twat)

Also the cloying stench of Gucci flower

Snuggleworm · 15/09/2021 16:02

I have thought of another one Blue by D&G. I rem I had a colleague who used to smoke and everytime she would come back from having one, she would drown herself in it. So the mixture of the ciggie smell and the perfume used to make me feel so sick. I was in the early stages of pregnancy and had really bad morning sickness so one morning she was over at my desk and I puked in to my bin :(

blissfulllife · 15/09/2021 16:02

Cacharel Eden gives me an instant sucky migraine

SpacePotato · 15/09/2021 16:04

All of them.
Why some people feel the need to spay half a bloody bottle on themselves and then top it up throughout the day in public spaces is beyond me.

Less is definitely more.

XenoBitch · 15/09/2021 16:05

None make get me into a vomitty rage, but anything that smells like the White Musk from the Bodyshop that teen girls used to soak themselves with in the 90s... yuk. Sickly and brings up bad memories.
Do they even sell it anymore?

RapQueen · 15/09/2021 16:05

@PooWillyNameChange

Chanel no 5. Makes me feel sick. My mum loves the stuff. That and White Linen. Horrendous.
I've always thought there was something wrong with me as everyone seems to love Chanel No5 and I can't stand it. I'm relieved to find out I'm not alone!

I hate Anais Anais as well.

janj2301 · 15/09/2021 16:06

got half way down page 2 and stopped reading, I only wear one perfume, Estee Lauder Youth Dew, sorry folks

LouLou789 · 15/09/2021 16:10

Oh good, my perfume has only been mentioned three times so far 🤣 I’m sure a lot of the problem is people drenching themselves in stuff.

Rhannion · 15/09/2021 16:12

White Musk The Body Shop, absolutely vile

DeedledeDee · 15/09/2021 16:17

Poison - It makes me want to throw up

Yes Blush

@BIoodyStupidJohnson

La Vie Est Belle is mine. Absolute niffer.

D&G Light Blue. Both the women's and the men's one. Smells like loo cleaner to me.

There's a men's one that comes in a bottle that looks hilariously like the chamber of a pistol. Wanted, I think it's called. Lawks, it's ghastly.

I have to say I do rather like Angel, although I apply it extremely sparingly; half a spray if that.

@BloodyStupidJohnson

I am the exact same about La Vie Est Belle.

Cannot stand it but for some strange reason after reading about it and with a friend who loved it bought a bottle of the bloody stuff - not small either! Boak.

ADreadedSunnyDay · 15/09/2021 16:23

I used to hate DS going to nursery. He used to come home smelling of lots of different perfumes. I gave up on perfume a while ago but my favourites are from Miller Harris

GraceAnatomy · 15/09/2021 16:24

Chloe Narciss
Angel
Issey Mayake
Samsara

There's probably about another 30 I can add to that list.

I only ever wear JPG Classique or Allure by Chanel, as I can't seem to find another scent I like.

Oh god, WHY? Why inflict that on others? Is it as popular as it was though? I did like the dewberry spray they did. Not darkened the door of Body Shop in a long time though.
PullMeInToTheScreen · 15/09/2021 16:27

Amazed that 'Ghost' is only mentioned once!
That and CK Be have some really horrible base or something. I hate it.

OTOH I love CK Eternity, White Musk and other 90s scents! (Never wear them though)

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 15/09/2021 16:39

Joop and Dune.

justasking111 · 15/09/2021 16:39

Not vomitty as such but some smells make me cough enough to need my inhaler. Ditto with many candle scents

EstuaryBird · 15/09/2021 16:44

I can’t stand any of them. Almost all strong smells give me splitting headaches and sensitive sinuses.

Not only perfumes but washing powder, air fresheners, cleaning products etc all smell awful and bring on the headaches. Some of them, Oust for example, actually smell like vomit to me.. just so gross.

If I’m sitting near you on a train and I’m wearing a face mask it’s not because I’m protecting you from covid, I’m protecting myself from the stench..sorry 🤢

Gonnagetgoing · 15/09/2021 16:45

I used to love Angel in my 20s but it makes me gag now but not the Violet one of Angel!

Gonnagetgoing · 15/09/2021 16:45

Or iris one... forget which

RantyAunty · 15/09/2021 16:47

Bijan

The few times I tried to wear it, it made me sick as well as anyone nearby.

Saddlesore · 15/09/2021 16:51

I had a colleague who used to douse herself in Giorgio. AT THE DESK. It made me gag.

MapleMay11 · 15/09/2021 16:52

Estee Lauder bronze goddess. Revolting.

upinaballoon · 15/09/2021 16:54

Loads of them. They can start migraines. They do start migraines, even the ones that you like. Half a squirt on the ankle once a year, on a really good head day.
