Perfumes for inducing a vomitty rage

In response to this lovely thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/4336303-Perfumes-of-your-life?pg=4 AIBU to suggest we get some lists of perfume that send you into a head-achy verge of vomiting rage? I’ll start with one I had to sit next to for a 5 hour stretch recently - Youth Dew 🤢. Also disliked by my mother, I’m still getting flash backs now.

Also I’ll add Lulu 🤮. Someone used to wear loads of it at work. I could barely keep my breakfast down when I walked in first thing.

Has Armani Code been mentioned yet? I can feel my stomach starting to churn just from the thought

I used to love Angel, but less really is more with that perfume and I'm pretty sure I scared a lot of men off when I went clubbing.

I'm not a fan of Gucci perfumes and Opium. I've had Paco Rabanne and Diesel perfumes bought for me and I bloody hate them, but the men's ones are OK. I like Dior perfumes the best, but they are extortionate, and I love Marc Jacobs Daisy ones, but they wear off in 20 seconds and not worth the money.

Many people hate Sunflowers, and I hated it at the time, but I love it now as it reminds me of my DM.

With the likes of Chanel No 5 and Youth Dew, I wonder if our generation are repelled by them because they were fashionable pre-1960s and our brains associate the scent with our older female relatives and friends? To us they seem stuffy and outdated, despite being sophisticated and chic when these ladies were younger.

All perfumes. they are absolutely horrible for people with asthma, migraines and sinus issues. I genuinely think it's incredibly anti-social to wear heavy perfume on public transport, and especially to spray it! I don't understand why people even wear it tbh. It's artificial, gross and miserable for those with allergies. Just have a shower and put a bit of roll-on deodorant on?

When I was first going out with my husband he noticed that I never wore perfume. He was so used to him mum and previous girlfriends being covered in the stuff.

He asked me, “how come you don’t smell then?”

Um, maybe because I wash everyday

Alien and Angel - Alien was nice but fucking EVERYWHERE and overwhelming and Angel was awful and stale smelling!

Between that and Joop you could smell the chav's approaching from miles away

It's funny how when we were teens we loved those heavy syrupy scents like Angel and I had a boyfriend who wore Chanel Egoist which I ADORED.

I got a bottle for my teenage son, OMG it's SO OVERPOWERING.

A friend and I recently went to Jo Malone and spent ages trying all their perfumes with the intention of buying one each.

We left empty handed as they all smelt like lavatory spray!

I'm going to Liberty's on Saturday with my DD14 as she loved Cruella, and I'm most looking forward to showing her their amazing perfume department!

Jean Paul Gaultier. I was bought a bottle once as it was all the rage. Was excited. Opened it. Sprayed it. Never touched it again.

Worst smell - airport duty frees - make me feel travel sick (although I am fine on planes, boats etc)
Tweed on a hot 70's afternoon mixed with smell of leather from new car 🤢

In a minority but I love the smell of Lynx

DD's school was attached to the boy's school and whenever I went in there I thought it smelled so nice. At an outdoor bar recently there was a group of teenage boys - lovely wafts of lynx 😊
I have worn it myself and no one seemed to notice (using up a gift set left over from mini boyfriend days from DD's)

My mum wore dune for a while, that was horrible.

Also have a friend who wears sunflowers, which I really hate. Have considered asking her not to wear it when meeting me, then wound my neck in!

Armani make gross perfumes. Emporio She and Code spring to mind. Overbearing plumes of stench.

Lancome La Vie Est Belle makes me heave.

Narcisco Rodrigues/z in the pink/black bottle smells of disinfectant to me - my mum's fave though!

and never liked Poison either.

Opium.I remember being trapped in a two-hour car journey to a wedding with someone wearing this.It was pouring with rain,so all the windows stayed closed and there was no ventilation.I felt so ill.

Oh dear, I love Opium it is my favourite perfume, however I find Black Opium disgusting. Chanel No. 5 also smells horrible on me... My second favourite is the classic Jean Paul Gautier, but the other 'flavours' in the JPG range donzt suit me at all. I can't remember any of the well known perfumes that actually make me feel sick, but just about any of those car freshner hangy thingys do!

Girl next to me at school used to bathe in bloody body shop vanilla stuff the spray herself head to toe. Add to the fact that she hated me on site for no apparent reason and refused to speak to me for 5 years making school v uncomfortable, the smell of vanilla makes me heave!!

Angel by Thierry Mugler 🤮 I can smell it a mile off and it gives me an instant headache and makes me gag.

DITTO, its the one of foulest smelling perfumes I loathe it.

BodyShop White Musk - smells like someone has sprayed the inside of their shoes to overcome foot odour ....and the shoes fought back

Lavender - any . Cannot even write the word without a gag reflex

And there's one I smell on people that's like flyspray . They're always people who I'd imagine to spend ££ or be given nice presents so I;m guessing they aren't dousing themselves with Raid !

I’m so glad to see Angel on the list. An ex of mine used to ask me to wear it because his ex used to wear it and it turned him on. And I did. The smell doesn’t make me sick, but It reminds me of my insecure, miserable twenties when I was ashamed to exist, and went out with the most awful dickheads in the world because they asked and I was lucky that they did.

that one in the weird pyramid turquoise bottle with a burgundy trim was called but lots of my mates wore it and it was rank.
