Perfumes for inducing a vomitty rage

In response to this lovely thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/4336303-Perfumes-of-your-life?pg=4 AIBU to suggest we get some lists of perfume that send you into a head-achy verge of vomiting rage? I’ll start with one I had to sit next to for a 5 hour stretch recently - Youth Dew 🤢. Also disliked by my mother, I’m still getting flash backs now.

Also I’ll add Lulu 🤮. Someone used to wear loads of it at work. I could barely keep my breakfast down when I walked in first thing.

Angel and Joop

Both fucking VILE

Dsisproblem · 15/09/2021 12:45

OMG Je Reviens. My mum wore it and it was horrendous.

Viviennemary · 15/09/2021 12:45

Angel makes me sneeze. My mum liked poison. Awful. Youth Dew is grim. Though I admit to loving it once and bought a bottle for nostalgia. Never used it.

WhyMeLord · 15/09/2021 12:46

This months glossybox had a set of three perfumes in, I sprayed them on then 10 mins later got in the shower to wash them off as best I could before throwing them in the bin. Horrible.

Most Estee Lauder perfumes give me headaches, particularly the really old fashioned smelling one in the yellow bottle

Whatup · 15/09/2021 12:46

That one from the sex in the city lady smells gross

LadyRoughDiamond · 15/09/2021 12:48

Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin - a terrifying old boss was always drenched in it - still makes me shudder.

AutistGoth · 15/09/2021 12:50

A lot of the scents I remember on ladies as a 90s kid were fresh and aquatic smelling. Almost like a sea breeze. I wish I could get hold of some of them these days. A reminder of childhood and a gorgeous smell all in one.

DressBitch · 15/09/2021 12:50

I think it's Decadence by Marc Jacobs that I hate.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 15/09/2021 12:52

Anything sweet or heavy

Antinerak · 15/09/2021 12:52

Lush- I sprayed some on DH and it smells lovely on him but on me it smells like manure and decay
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille gave me a headache and smelled of shit synthetic vanilla but I bought a knock off imitation of it and now wear it every day

muddyford · 15/09/2021 12:52

A customer who frequented our shop doused herself in patchouli oil. I could smell her coming in from the second floor. Unfortunately a member of staff started to do likewise. Luckily I ended up working on opposite days to her. Really nausea-inducing and headachey.

idontlikealdi · 15/09/2021 12:52

Poison / Obsession, I can't stand it.

DeadButDelicious · 15/09/2021 12:54

@Dearreader

As someone who spent my youth around the heavy metal crowd, I would like to offer you the incomparable patchouli oil. Horrific. Those incense sticks that burn in shops selling healing crystals also make me feel ill.
Ooops that's me 😂 I love patchouli and incense sticks. I wish I could find a perfume that smells like the hippy shops of the 90's.

I also love Angel and poison (well 80's poison) sorry everyone! 😂😂

EccentricaGalumbits · 15/09/2021 12:58

I immediately thought 'Youth Dew' as soon as I read the title of the thread.

While it smells the worst IMO, the two that make me physically unwell, e.g. splitting headache, coughing, eye watering, are White Linen and Red Door.

SuperSange · 15/09/2021 12:59

@UndercoverIntrovert

Anyone else just here checking that their favourite perfume isn't on the puke list?! Blush
Both of mine are. I don't wear them in the daytime though, they're too heavy.Blush

I hate Anais Anais. It makes my feel sick.

georgarina · 15/09/2021 12:59

When I was a teenager one summer I went on a long car trip wearing a tester of Kimora Lee Simmons 'Goddess.'

The combination of carsickness, heat, and the sickly smell of artificial pineapple and coconut was not a good one. Can't think of that perfume without feeling sick.

EIIa · 15/09/2021 13:01

Tresor 🤮

BrilloPaddy · 15/09/2021 13:05

Anything Jo Malone!

I used to work with a colleague who seemed to bathe in Poison......when pregnant with DD I actually had a complete meltdown in my bosses office and cried that I couldn't bear it! They moved me, but I could still smell her everywhere. It was grim.

cultkid · 15/09/2021 13:05

Brittany spears

Mascia · 15/09/2021 13:07

Not exactly vomitty, but I never liked Davidoff Cool Water - I remember it being popular in the late 90s and I even got it for my 18th birthday, but I hardly used, it smelled somehow „cold“ and clinical to me.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 15/09/2021 13:07

Jean Paul Gaultier and Alien. Overpowering enough to asphyxiate you at 50 paces. Same with Obsession, Chloe, Eden, Coco Chanel and similar heavy scents. I can't go near anyone who is wearing that stuff.

In my late teens I had a fondness for Anais Anais. Had a little spray of it a year or so back: its sickly sweetness made me want to gag. As a floral scent you'd think it would be light, but it's clinging and cloying and impossible to wash off. I don't know what Previous-Me was thinking!

Nowadays I prefer some of the lighter Penhaligon's ones.

CounsellorTroi · 15/09/2021 13:09

Cool Water by Davidoff. Instant headache and nausea.

BigButtons · 15/09/2021 13:11

Angel is by far the worst for me. Stinks like piss.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/09/2021 13:11

Opium
Tweed
Youth Dew

And any of the cheap musk scents

Spysolation · 15/09/2021 13:12

Tom ford tobac vanille or whatever it’s called.
Awful awful awful
