WHY DO WOMENS CLOTHES HAVE FAKE STITCHED UP POCKETS?

If you're going to put a pocket in clothes, why stitch it up again?

Is it just me who's always pulling them apart to get into the pocket that is actually there but has just been stitched back up?

WHY.

Ericaequites · 14/09/2021 16:06

I make nearly all of my own clothes. Everything has pockets.

godmum56 · 14/09/2021 16:06

@HarrietsChariot

Cans of vegetables, fruit etc that don't have a ring pull. It's not 1995, put a damned ring pull at one end and leave the other end for people who prefer to create a dangerous, razor-sharp metal edge.
get a safety can opener, cuts through the rim and leaves no sharp edges anywhere. I think those ring pulled lids are LETHAL
Vispa · 14/09/2021 16:06

Yes me too, I call them the "one speed wonders," or one speed w@nkers" if I'm in a bad mood. Argh!

Vispa · 14/09/2021 16:07

Woops! in reply to this:
When someone drives at 40mph in a 60mph zone, where it’s perfectly safe to go 60mph, then continues at 40mph when they go through a 30mph. Gives me the utter rage

The little loops of ribbon inside T-shirts, or if you buy from seasalt one bit of ribbon that goes across the neck.

What. The. Fuck. Is. It. For?

Keeping things on a hanger - in theory you loop the ribbons around the hanger hook to stop the top sliding off while hanging. In practice you either cut them out leaving little stubby, itchy tufts on your shoulders, or leave them in and walk around looking like you've got a pull cord in each armpit for some mysterious action setting. Pull left string for polite conversation, right string for swearing like a drunk pirate...

WHY.

The answer to your WHY is becuse they keep their shape in the shop and you're supposed to unpick them Grin

My WHY is why do people with no compassion, no willingness to help and no ability to recognise that patients with health concerns are suffering severe stress take jobs in doctor's surgeries?

DynamoKev · 14/09/2021 16:16

Trying to contact HMRC.

Onlinedilema · 14/09/2021 16:23

I agree about girls shoes, totally impractical.
Why are lots of female clothes impractical?
Too short, too flimsy, not practical, no pockets, too tight, the list goes on.

notthemum · 14/09/2021 16:29

@Chirpycheep
Haha.
If you can fit it in quick enough try saying "You tell me". Every time.

notthemum · 14/09/2021 16:33

Sexnotgender.
Pretty sure they are to hang them up rether than fold. But could be wrong. I Always cut the buggers out especially if they are the long ones otherwise I get tangled up.

thepeopleversuswork · 14/09/2021 16:42

GP's surgeries insisting that you play phone bingo at 8am to get a same day appointment, requiring you basically to clear two hours of your morning to sit in a phone queue and then not get an appointment.

I know they're insanely over-run but I don't understand the logic of trying to force everyone to stampede for an appointment in the same day -- emergency or otherwise. Surely if people with non-essential medical queries could book for three weeks' hence it would take the pressure off day to day?

Thebookswereherfriends · 14/09/2021 16:46

My daughter now chooses shoes from the “boy” section as she really dislikes having cold, wet feet! It’s a stupid design, but fine if people want it, but why not do a few more closed style shoes actually designed for girls?

notthemum · 14/09/2021 16:51

RunningStrong. The answer to your question is because they are dicks. (Think it possibly on the application form too.)
Q . Are you welcoming ?
A . No
Q. Are you discreet ?
A. No
Q. Are you sympathetic ?
A. No
Q Are you helpful ?
A No
CONGRATULATIONS, YOU'VE GOT THE JOB.

My beloved partner does a version of this when I start to tell someone else a story that she already knows - especially if it's a story which really needs the beginning, middle and end for full effect.

She will invariably interject and go right to the punchline, utterly killing off the story.

Bit specific to where I live, but, old people that walk in the road, right next to a perfectly good pavement.

Ha! My niece's school emailed parents the lunch time before the first day of term to announce that every child must wear black trainers from the first day of term. Shoes will not be allowed.

Cue hundreds of emails into the school...

Who thought that the afternoon before the start of a new year was a sensible time to tell parents about this new rule? Confused

...and that's possibly on purpose. To limit the amount of attendees and BS that comes with organising these kind if events Grin

You have 2 options here:
  1. When she asks you something, head her off by saying 'Do you want me to tell you or do you want to make some guesses first?'

  2. Poke her directly in the eye.

Why are there pockets in baby clothes???? Used to wrecked my head when ironing
Why are you ironing baby clothes?!?!
heymammy · 14/09/2021 17:32

Those lunch box packets of mini oreos that are joined together with perforations. They never bloody separate properly and you end up with a hole in one of the packets...raaaaage
