It was from "friends" of his, two sisters. They've always been a bit strange

handlemecarefully · 04/12/2007 14:17

It's a bit off, however if the card inside contained my name I would be prepared to overlook it as an idosyncracy....

Are you going to try the science questions of my impending pub quiz Twig?

paros · 04/12/2007 23:07

you think thats bad . I recieved a christmas card once. It was signed Janet and Mark FFS shes my mother. I was not a happy bunny that day .

moondog · 04/12/2007 23:13

Good God,do people read so much into thse things??
We get some in my name, some in dh's,every permutation of possible greetings, names spelt wrong and all sorts. Who cares?

I am frankly astounded to get any at all as I stopped sending them about 5 years ago.

moondog · 04/12/2007 23:14

lol at Janet & Mark from mater.

RosaLuxMundi · 04/12/2007 23:16

When my mum sends us a family Christmas card she signs it
Mum/Gran/Her name

Lizzer · 04/12/2007 23:17

Crap, I've sent all my cards addressed to my friend's without their dh on the envelope...hope i don't piss anyone off.

Damn, damn, damn. I bet I don't do it when I'm a married person....

Sorry Twiglett, I don't know this woman but it could just be an oversight.. Unless she is a heartless unthinking cow all the rest of the year too

paulaplumpbottom · 04/12/2007 23:18

Is the message inside for all of you?

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 04/12/2007 23:18

We once got a card that had both my children's names spelled wrong!

How hard is it to spell Noah..

Noagh....??? I ask you!!

PrisonerCellBlockAitch · 04/12/2007 23:19

twig, i really wouldn't read anything into it... not at all.

paulaplumpbottom · 04/12/2007 23:19

Lizzie social correspondance should always be sent to the lady of the house. You were correct

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 04/12/2007 23:20

I usually put

"The XX XXXXX family"
234 XXXXXX road
BT44 9GK

I hope that doesn't annoy people.. I have never thought about it before tbh.

moondog · 04/12/2007 23:20

Noagh!
lmao

I konw a woman who can't even spell her own mother's name in joint missives.

Jacqeuie anyone?
(Unless it really is her name..)

Lizzer · 04/12/2007 23:21

...Although my friend sent me a card with just a pic of a blonde woman and a big key on it for when me, dp, dd and bump bought our first family home together after yrs of struggling, which naffed me off no end so I should learn to be more considerate really...

Wow this thread has been a learning curve for me

Lizzer · 04/12/2007 23:23

Obviously I knew that all along paula Everyone pay heed to my excellent advice

madamez · 04/12/2007 23:31

Have you got a really long surname? Ie would t be tricky to fit Mr T Mrs T Min T1 and mini T 2 on an nvelope?

chipmonkey · 04/12/2007 23:48

MIL deliberately pisses me and SIL off by addressing cards to us as Mr and Mrs dhsurname when she knows right well that SIL and I have kept our maiden names.

Heifer · 05/12/2007 00:12

I think I only address the envelope to one person and then write the whole families names inside...

I say I think because now I am unsure what I do and don't fancy going downstairs to write an envelope out just to see.

I wouldn't be bothered what the envelope said tbh as long as I got some mention inside the card..

Minum · 05/12/2007 05:56

I value those few precious relationships which are just between me and someone else, not the whole family (and therefore those few cards addressed just to me). However if the addressing of an envelope is symptomatic of being ignored by someone in the family then its a different matter and horrid.

I send emails, not cards, at Christmas so a big issue about whether to send it to everyone in a household, or just one.

macdoodle · 05/12/2007 09:48

H gets pissed off (we are seperated) my friends just send to me and DD....his still send to all of us ..as do his parents..but my family again just to me and DD ....makes me smile
