to ask my boyfriend to move my car?

I had to leave my car 2 streets over after my Covid test on Sunday. It's making me really nervous not being able to see it. I'd chance running out at night, but there really aren't any spaces once everyone comes home.

He's dropped me off shopping and popped by to see me from the window, but he won't move it. I'm cranky and cooped up but it's really annoying me!

Why can't you go and move it?

BlueBloodedDinosaur · 08/09/2021 22:13

I have Covid. Sorry, thought that was obvious!

Chill. Your car will be fine.

Fluffypastelslippers · 08/09/2021 22:14

Why won't he move it? This is something that would be really simple for any of the drivers in this house to do.

TheHouseIsOnFire · 08/09/2021 22:14

Your car is fine where it is presuming it’s locked and not parked outside a crack den.

Your BF has brought you food round, so clearly cares. He shouldn’t be getting in your car and handling your keys etc if you’re worried you have covid. I’m sure steering wheels and keys are some of the most germ laden things along with phones and door handles! You’ll get your results soon and can move your car yourself if you’re well.

Unless your car is particularly steal-able why would you worry about it being out of sight? Do you never leave it to go shopping or on holiday etc?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 08/09/2021 22:14

Aw. I think I’d move it for you in these circumstances. It’ll be fine though!

Fluffypastelslippers · 08/09/2021 22:14

@BlueBloodedDinosaur

I have Covid. Sorry, thought that was obvious!

Oh, perhaps that why he doesn't want to get in your car then.

TheQueef · 08/09/2021 22:15

Will he be legal driving it?

TheHouseIsOnFire · 08/09/2021 22:15

Ah I see, well I certainly wouldn’t have been getting in my BF’s car if he had covid. Sorry.

dementedpixie · 08/09/2021 22:15

Put a mask on and go and retrieve it when everyone is at work

HeddaGarbled · 08/09/2021 22:17

What’s the difference between running out at night and running out during the day?

BlueBloodedDinosaur · 08/09/2021 22:17

Surely the risk has passed though. I last drove it on Sunday.

I'd just like it to be in my line of vision. Worried about going out during the day as it's so easy to bump into people.

Just move it yourself! It isn’t like you’re going to be coughing on anyone and won’t take long!

MiddleParking · 08/09/2021 22:18

Are you not leaving the house because you’re too ill to or because it’s the rules? Is he refusing to move the car because of the Covid risk or because he just doesn’t want to?

forgottonworkloaddays · 08/09/2021 22:18

Are you double jabbed ??

Cocomarine · 08/09/2021 22:18

Surely not more likely to be stolen there? And if it was stolen, having outside your house only means you’d know sooner - not stop it happening. If you weren’t infectious (say a broken ankle) he’d be unkind not to just indulge you. But as you have Covid, I think he’s right not to get into the car you’ve very recently been driving.

Cocomarine · 08/09/2021 22:18

So go out at night?
HeddaGarbled · 08/09/2021 22:19

I think the catching-COVID-from-touching-things thing has been pretty much debunked now.

BakedTattie · 08/09/2021 22:19

Well you do something about it then. You want it moved, you move it.

BlueBloodedDinosaur · 08/09/2021 22:20

I won't get a space if I go out at night. That's why I had to leave it two streets away on Sunday night. I am double jabbed but still don't want to bump right into a neighbour during the day.

OP posts:
HugeAckmansWife · 08/09/2021 22:21

It's really not that easy to bump into people, like physically getting into their space. I assume you don't live in a packed city centre? Just pick mid morning, give anyone a wide berth and go get it, if you really feel it's an issue.

BlueBloodedDinosaur · 08/09/2021 22:21

I assume you don't live in a packed city centre

I do, that's the problem.

OP posts:
HeddaGarbled · 08/09/2021 22:22

Also, unless you cough or spit directly into someone’s face, at exactly the same time they inhale, it’ll be OK to pass them in the street.

Slippy78 · 08/09/2021 22:23

Is he insured to drive it?

Arabelladrinkstea · 08/09/2021 22:23

Sorry but you’re being OTT both about not being able to see it and for refusing to move it yourself
