to ask my boyfriend to move my car?

BlueBloodedDinosaur · 08/09/2021 22:10

I had to leave my car 2 streets over after my Covid test on Sunday. It's making me really nervous not being able to see it. I'd chance running out at night, but there really aren't any spaces once everyone comes home.

He's dropped me off shopping and popped by to see me from the window, but he won't move it. I'm cranky and cooped up but it's really annoying me!

Yes, he's insured to drive it.

Cocomarine · 08/09/2021 22:25

Why has he actually SAID he won’t?

  • can’t be arsed
  • Covid concern
  • thinks you’re being ridiculous and doesn’t want to pander
  • other
Dishwashersaurous · 08/09/2021 22:26

Why do you need to see it?

Do you not sleep and stare at your car all night.

Honestly you are being completely ridiculous about wanting to see it and he's sensibly not indulging your irrational behaviour

PaddleBlue · 08/09/2021 22:27

@forgottonworkloaddays

Are you double jabbed ??
@forgottonworkloaddays what’s that got to do with anything?
BlueBloodedDinosaur · 08/09/2021 22:27

He's mostly hummed and hawwed without a specific answer. I've asked twice. It's just really niggling at me.

Fanfix · 08/09/2021 22:27

Please do not go out if you have Covid. As you say, all it takes is one person bumping into you at the gate etc.

Is it in a dangerous area? Is there anyone else that could move it? How long left before your isolation finishes? Has your BF given a reason?

Notebooksarefabulous · 08/09/2021 22:28

The number of comments on this thread from people who didnt read the op........ [face palm]
Your car will almost certainly be totally fine of course but Id get anxiety pants about not being able to see it too. I live on a road with very little parking so we have similar issues here. By now there is no chance germs in your car could possibly infect your bf...... hes being ridiculous if thats his reasoning. And rather uncaring if he cant understand your anxiety about not being able to see your car.
I have no solutions though - you've got covid, probably feeling awful, best to remain at home until you are better. xxxx

BlueBloodedDinosaur · 08/09/2021 22:30

It's not a dangerous area, but there have been a few car thefts, they're always getting scratched because the road is narrow, and there are some right busybodies who are likely to notice it's been left unattended for 2 weeks.

I'm isolating until Tuesday.

Topseyt · 08/09/2021 22:32

OP said she had had a Covid Test in the OP, but did not confirm that she had Covid.

I'd still go and move it myself anyway.

DroopyClematis · 08/09/2021 22:33

It's quiet now, just pop a mask on and move it yourself.

Dishwashersaurous · 08/09/2021 22:34

Do you worry about your car if you are on holiday and not there? You could be on holiday for a fortnight.

forgottonworkloaddays · 08/09/2021 22:34

@PaddleBlue

Tell me you are joking?

Depending where in the world you are has different rules such as in some places If you have Covid but are double jabbed you do not have to isolate

BlueBloodedDinosaur · 08/09/2021 22:35

I’d normally drop it off at my mum’s if I was on holiday.

There aren’t any spaces at night. If there were, I’d run out.

DuesToTheDirt · 08/09/2021 22:36

What does it matter if you can't see it? If you could see it from your house, are you constantly looking out of the window on the offchance someone damages or steals it? And if they did, what then? Would you be able to run out and stop them?

EarringsandLipstick · 08/09/2021 22:37

What parts of the world have this rule? 🤔

Yesmate · 08/09/2021 22:37

@forgottonworkloaddays where? Haven’t heard of any country that has rules of no isolation if you have covid

EarringsandLipstick · 08/09/2021 22:38

Of course he should move it. I understand wanting to see your car.

If he won't, go out during the day & keep your distance. You won't be in contact with anyone.

Clymene · 08/09/2021 22:38

I can never see my car unless I'm a out to get into it. It's never occurred to me to worry about it

Dishwashersaurous · 08/09/2021 22:38

You honestly take your car to your mums when you are on holiday.

OK so you have car related anxiety which I would expect your boyfriend to realise, and be OK with.

Then he could be more sympathetic

There is a country in the united kingdom called Wales

Where on earth is that the rule?! Hmm

BlueBloodedDinosaur · 08/09/2021 22:41

I do not have car related anxiety Hmm I just don’t have a parking space. I’d like just to be able to pop my head out the window and know it’s there.

@forgottonworkloaddays

Straight from the welsh governments website:

But everyone who tests positive for coronavirus or has symptoms must continue to isolate for 10 days, whether they have been vaccinated or not.

DrWhoNowww · 08/09/2021 22:44

@forgottonworkloaddays 100% you still have to isolate with COVID in wales, even if your double jabbed.

To the OP your boyfriends being ridiculous but I’d mask up and pick a quiet time of day to go move it if it’s bothering you that much.
