Hi currently staying on in my friends holiday home and me and dp wanted to walk down to the river and took a quick route between 2 caravans and a lady came out and shouted very aggressivly do not walk between the caravans and slammed her door shut so was we in the wrong.

OP posts:

I wouldn't have known this rule either op. It sounds like a lot of other people who have stayed there don't know either because I don't think she'd have been so irate if you were the first to do it!

FortunesFavour · 06/09/2021 09:18

Do it again OP! Oh go on…..

Bella43 · 06/09/2021 09:38

She could've politely told you as opposed to yelled. I once had a caravan owner come out and shout at me because my 3 year old daughter was looking at her gnomes! She hadn't touched them and we were standing on a path but this woman took it upon herself to come out within seconds and shout they're not to be touched! I'm guessing there's a huuuuuge backstory there. Either way, no-one should be yelling.

bellabasset · 06/09/2021 09:53

On our local caravan/lodge park you are usually able to park your car adjacent to your home. On a set up like this you clearly shouldn't be walking between the homed and it's generally a quieter park with no onsite club or entertainment.

Does anyone else skip straight to the last page of a massive bunfight to see who's winning? Grin

SirChenjins · 06/09/2021 11:03

Always! And I check to see what the OP has written by clicking on the ‘see all’ in their OP. Wading through pages of ‘you’re wrong’, ‘no YOU’RE wrong’ etc gets a bit boring sometimes Grin

montysma1 · 06/09/2021 11:04

Do you get why you can't walk through people's gardens?
People pay for a pitch for their holiday, not a pavement.

montysma1 · 06/09/2021 11:11

Because they are in a row? And the bit at their door with their car and their belongings is part of their pitch rental. It's not complicated.

Yep, quick read of OP’s posts and then on to the last 30 posts 😂
Whydoiwearsomuchleopardprint · 06/09/2021 11:47

I’ve stayed at Haven parks and everyone there does it too!

QueenoftheFarts · 06/09/2021 17:29

You were definitely in the wrong. You got told firmly. Move on.

bamboocat · 06/09/2021 17:32

I've spent holidays on caravan parks for decades (both 'private' static owned by friends and Hoseasons type), and I honestly couldn't give a shit whether someone walks between my caravan and the next. Nor have I ever come across anyone else who minded either.

Yesyouarebu · 06/09/2021 17:38

Wow! Well surprised by these replies! I never knew that was a thing! Wouldn't be offended if someone did this to us but will think again about doing it

BritMommyAbroad · 06/09/2021 17:46

Exactly this.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 06/09/2021 17:46

I made this mistake too and got shouted at. But staying in a caravan was shite snd is never go it again so I don’t need to worry. But yes, it seems to be a thing and van owners seem to be shouty.

Harmonypuss · 06/09/2021 17:49

The grassed areas between caravans/static homes (despite not being signposted as such) are the equivalent of a front garden and access to the front doors and NOT public footpaths.

As previously said by others, if someone wanted to get to somewhere that lay 2 minutes' walk beyond your front garden, even if there was a footpath that meant it would take 10 minutes to get there, you would not be happy about people traipsing across your garden just because it constitutes a shortcut.

Afford the same respect to these areas as you would expect people to afford your front garden!

user1485851222 · 06/09/2021 17:54

I own a van, never been told its a no no, but I think its just something most don't do, out of politeness... I also just got a puppy and obviously they do their business when out for a walk, if he does it near a caravan, I'm mortified. Caravan sitescan be a danger zone

5128gap · 06/09/2021 17:59

I think people like the shouting woman have very small lives, and so something trivial like walking on the wrong part of the grass seems very important to them. The drama of shouting at you was probably the highlight of her day and she will be telling anyone who'll listen all about it for the rest of the week.

Nsky · 06/09/2021 18:02

Seems petty, not that I stay in caravans

Lindaaelizabeth · 06/09/2021 18:03

When I’ve been in a caravan, they have a little garden in the front, in between the caravans is grass. It is mowed by the owners, it does not belong to anyone else. No one would walk on the flowered garden at the front, but the grass is fine, What a fuss about nothing

Pigwig10 · 06/09/2021 18:03

Well I never knew this was a thing either. Every day is a school day!!

LaurenSM · 06/09/2021 18:13

God, she clearly wasn't in her best mood.
I've traveled on a caravan with my boyfriend for several months, and most of the time, things don't work as you expected them, so you get easily upset (I yelled at him several times in my caravan-mood, haha).
Maybe you're missing an item, or you run out of food and have to go shopping, or it just rains for three days in a row, and you cannot leave the caravan. Everything makes you mad!
Here thinkremote.com/digital-nomad-packing-list/, I found some good tips that helped me avoid those kinds of situations. But my advice for you it's trying not to take it personally!

olidora63 · 06/09/2021 18:14

I have never stayed at a caravan park but can honestly say it would never of occurred to me that walking between caravans was such a problem! Oh well you live and learn !

Requestit · 06/09/2021 18:15

What pathetic person shouts at someone for walking on a piece of grass. Seriously 😂. They’ve clearly not got much going on to worry about. Fair enough if you were smoking pot outside their window but literally walking past….

JournalistEmily · 06/09/2021 18:19

Honestly, who cares 🤣
