I know she regularly reports from dangerous places but am I the only person to be surprised that Lyse Doucet is still in Kabul? How on Earth will she get out? She must be a target for ISIS?

Anyway. At risk of being jumped on again, I find it quite sad that the three female reporters I’ve looked up so far have no children. Not surprising though.
Tbf i think the same is often true of male reporters who cover these sort of crisis - or if they do have families they are prone to divorce for obvious reasons.

Its simply not a job you can do without dedicating your entire life to because its so dangerous and all consuming.

I think the female reporters are perhaps more aware of how incompable it is with having a family. For all the obvious reasons.

Tbh i think it better to not have children if you decide on this particular career.

Not sure if anyone has posted this link but Lyse is on the Wednesday Newscast podcast talking about staying in Afghanistan www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p09tptb9

I’m not jumping on you, but I’m curious to know why you think that’s sad?
Proudboomer · 02/09/2021 09:19

Clarissa Ward has 2 children.
Surely it is just a matter of personal choice and there is nothing sad about a woman who chooses not to have children.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 02/09/2021 13:30

Yes Clarissa Ward even has a one year old

Hi Fishy. I’ve spent the evening researching the Mi’kmaq.

If I rocked up to Syliboy in Truro and said

‘Hi there Syliboy, I understand you are a Mi’kmaq’

Anyone walking past would hear

Hi there Silly Boy. I understand you are a Micmac.

So tell me where I’m going wrong?

I don't know how you feel able to ask me to explain anything to you after you told me to fuck off (I see it's deleted now, not reported by me)

Having said that, the written word is as important as spoken, there's no harm in correcting spelling, especially when the affected people are a minority As per the quote, it's just mutual respect. And Micmac is pronounced differently to Mi’kmaq.

Nice touch with misspelling my name as fishy.

This was excellent.

Yes I stumbled across Newscast, she answered many of our questions here, like are you at risk etc.

Kitkat151 · 04/09/2021 17:48

@sleepygnome

I don't think she is brave, just selfish and arrogant. I hope no soldiers are going to be expected to risk their lives getting her out.
Why is she selfish and arrogant?
pinkhousesarebest · 04/09/2021 17:57

I know a reporter in Afghanistan. She is «allowed» to be there by the Taliban, in order to show( presumably ), the new and improved version.
